The israeli authorities have seized all shelter and humanitarian aid provided to Palestinian residents who had their homes demolished by the Israeli army in the Jordan Valley.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the occupied Palestinian territories (OHCHR) had provided the humanitarian assistance when the Israeli authorities bulldozed an entire Palestinian village in the Jiftlik area of the Jordan Valley. The Israeli army have now declared the area a closed military zone and do not allow human rights groups and media entering the area. Last week the Israeli army bulldozed 13 homes and animal outhouses belonging to 3 bedouin families, leading to the displacement of 26 people and 15 children. At the time the army claimd that they were living in a military training zone. Israeli has clarified its position over the Jordan Valley stating that they aim to annex it onto their land. Tel Aviv has refused a deal brokered by the US, to remove all military presence from the Jordan Valley. This is the second time that the Israeli army demolish Palestinian homes in the village of Jiftlik -- leaving them in a cold winter without home or shelter. Rights groups say childrens and elderly are the ones who have suffered the most as a result and if this trend continues it could lead to a serious humanitarian crisis in the village.

[25 Dec 2013] Syrians celebrate gloomy Xmas as conflict drags on - English

While the Christmas celebrations are on the peak around the world, the event in Syria this year is a grim one. For Christians, here, the Christmas is simply a reminder of displacement and loss of family members in the attacks carried out by foreign backed militants.
A huge mass was held in the Mariamite Cathedral in Damascus and attended by Patriarch of Antioch and All the East and The Mufti of Syria. Prayers called for peace for the country and the souls of those who sacrificed their lives for protecting the homeland. Prayers also called for the return of those who have been abducted by Takfiri militants. Foreign-backed militants operating inside Syria recently took over the ancient Christian town of Maloula in Damascus countryside. A large number of residents were displaced. Al Qaeda-linked al-Nusra Front terrorists also stormed the Orthodox Mar Takla convent in the middle of the city and abducted several nuns. The Maloula incident is not the isolated one. The militants have sabotaged many churches across the country in recent months. And, mortars fired by them continue to claim the lives of both Christians and Muslims including women and children. Christians in Syria celebrated the Christmas amid calls to boost the security of their war-torn country. Syrian Christians believe that their country will only be stronger with their presence and steadfastness. And despite their sufferings, they still try to live a normal life, hoping stability would be restored.

The United Nations has criticized Israel for destroying 30 Palestinian properties in the Occupied West Bank.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator James Rawly says the demolitions have resulted in the displacement of 41 people, including 24 children. Rawly says some of the families have been displaced for the second time in less than two weeks. Rights groups say the demolitions are aimed at grabbing more land for Israel\\\'s settlements and military projects in the occupied Palestinian Territories. Israel has built thousands of settler units in the occupied territories despite international condemnation. The settlements are considered illegal under international law.

A Conference for Palestine refugees was held in Gaza titled United for Return to mark the 65th anniversary of the Palestinian catastrophe or Nakba. It brought together leaders of Palestinian factions as well as refugees\' representatives from Lebanon, Jordan, Syria and Egypt and the Diaspora. Upon the establishment of the Tel-Aviv regime in 1948, more than 700,000 Palestinians were forced out of historical Palestine because of the threat of being massacred by Zionist militias coupled with the simultaneous destruction of many Palestinian towns and villages. This dispossession is commemorated among Palestinians, as Nakba.

http://edition.presstv.ir/detail/215690.html
A political activist says that the United States and Israeli governments are the greatest security threat in the world, inflicting wholesale slaughter and massive human displacement.
Press TV has conducted an exclusive interview with Dahlia Wasfi, with the Iraqi Justice & political activist, to further discuss the issue.
The following is a transcript of the interview.
Press TV: The US is supposed to withdraw from Iraq by the year's end. And with Obama saying just days ago in a press conference with Iraqi PM Nuri al-Maliki, the US troops will be leaving Iraq with heads held high. What legacy will the US leave behind in Iraq?
Wasfi: Well, it's nothing to be proud of. There's a legacy of the wholesale slaughter of over a million people, the making of a massive refugee crisis - the largest since the Palestinian refugee crisis began - the destruction of the Iraqi health care system, the destruction of the Iraqi education system, the destruction of Iraq's infrastructure.
In terms of security in Iraq, the most dangerous forces in the world today are the United States military and the Israeli occupation forces. Those are the greatest threats to global security. So while it's true that Iraq is a dangerous place, it is because of the US military stay and its illegal occupation, not in spite of it.
Press TV: If the US leaves Iraq - and I say IF, because there might be the possibility to extend the deadline at the 11th hour - how capable do you think Iraq would be in taking care of itself?
Wasfi: Iraq is the cradle of civilization. There's no question that though it will take decades to overcome the destruction that has been wrought by the forces led by the United States and Great Britain, that Iraq can recover on its own. History has shown that.
As you said, this is a farce. It's not actually an end to the military occupation of Iraq. It's a maintained military and economic occupation with, as I've read, 16,000 US military personnel, in addition to mercenaries, in addition to CIA and other operatives that are operating in Iraq under the guise of organizations like US Aid which have long time been used as cover for the CIA.
Press TV: Adding to your list, what remains for the question of the Mujaheddin Khalq Organization - the terrorist organization operating on Iraqi soil?
Wasfi: I'll repeat again that the largest terrorist organization that's operating on Iraqi soil is the US military. Iraq's borders have been blown wide open since March 19th, 2003. Anyone and everyone has access to Iraq. Iran has a very strong influence in Iraq today.
But the only future of Iraq, it is only up to the Iraqis, just as the future of Syria is up to the Syrians, just as the future of Iran is only up to Iran. And the future of the US is up to the Americans. And for all of these countries, no more interference by Israeli politics.

Gunfire broke out on as Palestinians marched to mark the 63rd anniversary of "Nakba Day" or the day of catastrophe.
Marching towards the Erez crossing, over 1000 Palestinians faced Israeli soldiers opening fire on them. Dozens of marchers were injured including a journalist who is in critical condition as they tried to return to their original homes in historical Palestine. In a prayer sermon, Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah continued to stress the importance of resistance against the Zionist regime.
Meanwhile, thousands of Palestinians held a big rally in northern Gaza to protest the events in 1948 when their ancestors were pushed into exile and driven out of their towns and villages by Israel. These annual marches serve to remind and unite Palestinians as they struggle to cope with six decades of suffering.
Israel has prevented the return of Palestinian refugees, who were either displaced or dispossessed in 1948. After 63 years of displacement, Palestinians say they want the world to know that they will never give up the right of return to their homeland.

Ever since the war on Gaza in late 2008, Turks have openly sided with Palestinians and have been extremely critical of Israeli military operations and it's blockade on Gaza.
Turkish protesters marched to the Israeli consulate in Istanbul to mark "Nakba Day", the annual commemoration of the displacement of Palestinian people after Israel evicted them from their territories and homes in 1948.
In that year, an estimated 700,000 Palestinians were displaced as hundreds of villages were destroyed, something these protesters say can not be ignored.

The biological weapons given to Saddam by the Western powers to fight the resilient Iranians were also used on the Kurds of the North. During the late stages of the Iran–Iraq War Saddam's proconsul Ali Hassan - aka Chemical Ali - is said to have used Mustard Gas, Sarin, Tabun, and VX against Kurdish targets. The first such attacks occurred as early as April 1987 and continued into 1988 culminating in the notorious attack on Halabja in which over 5000 people were killed. With Kurdish resistance continuing Ali Hassan decided to break the back of the rebellion by eradicating the civilian population of the Kurdish regions. His forces embarked on a systematic campaign of mass killings property destruction and forced population displacement in which thousands of Kurdish villages were razed and their inhabitants either killed or deported to the south of Iraq. General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker came to Capitol Hill to answer questions about the Iraq war last tuesday - april 8.
