Abū Ḥamza al-Thumali was a prominent student of of Imam Ali Zainul Abidīn (as) , as well as a companion of Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) . Al-Thumālī narrated this supplication from Imam Sajjad (as), and is cited by various scholars, such as Shaykh Tusi in Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Sayyid ibn Tawus in Iqbal al-A’mal, Ibrahim ibn Ali al-Kaf’ami in Al-Balad al-Amin, and Allama Majlisi in Bihar Al-Anwar. It is known to be one of the longest Dua’s and is meant to be read in the Month of Ramadan before sunrise. This supplication is beautiful in its eloquence as it holds many spiritual teachings, such as finding the balance between hope and fear, death, and gratitude. For example, we know that as humans we are greatly flawed and bound to sin, in which we may fear that we are not worthy of mercy and forgiveness of Allah swt. This path towards wrongdoings can lead one to hopelessness, however, the Dua teaches us that we must remember Allah swt is All Forgiving and All Merciful, and by these virtues of Allah swt that we should remain hopeful, and to not be fearful of Allah swt, but rather to be cautious and scared of our own actions. The Dua of Abu Hamza also contains supplications for our needs and wants for this world, as well as the hereafter. It is said that if the whole of this supplication is read then the supplications of our needs have been sufficiently covered, as this Dua mentions a variety of wishes that one may ask for. This includes the wellbeing of our families, the whole of society, and ourselves. As this Dua is mainly recited in the month of Ramadan, there is also the request to be amongst those who receive the chance to perform Hajj, as it is narrated that on Laylatul Qadr, the names of those who will be given such a chance are written. With the many needs that this Dua addresses, Imam Sajjad (as) has also included in it the bounties of Allah, so that we may practice gratitude and be grateful for that which Allah has blessed us with. Lastly as all of us must face death at one point or another, in this supplication, the Imam (as) prepares us for what will come after death, and reminds us to strive for the Hereafter.

This supplication is also referred to as Dua Alqamah named after the companion of Imam Sadiq (as), Alqamah. However, Shaykh Abbas Qummi quotes very clear traditions in Mafatih ul-Jinan that Imam Sadiq (as) recited this dua in the presence of his companion Safwan, not Alqamah. It is further reported that Safwan reported this dua to Alqamah. Therefore, the correct name of this supplication is \"Dua Safwan\". This dua is to be recited after Ziyarat Ashura.

رضا مثقالی، معروف به رضا مارمولک، دزد سابقه داری است که بارها دستگیر و زندانی شده و هر بار، پس از مدت کوتاهی از آزادیش، به جهت ارتکاب به خلاف تازه ای، روانه زندان شده است. آخرین باری که او دستگیر می شود، جرم سنگین تری دارد، اتهام او سرقت مسلحانه است. این بار رضا تحویل زندانی می شود که رئیس ساختگیر و انعطاف ناپذیر آن، آقای مجاور، نفوذ و تأثیر بسیاری بر زندانیان دارد، و معتقد است باید آنقدر نسبت به زندانیان سختگیری کرد که دیگر، پس از آزادی، فکر اعمال خلاف را نکنند. او عقیده دارد زندانیان را حتی به زور هم شده باید وادار به درستکاری کرد تا رستگار شده و به بهشت بروند. رضا مارمولک باهوش تر و زیرک تر هم، از مجازات آقای مجاور درامان نمی ماند و هر بار با نافرمانی هایش محکوم به تحمل حبس انفرادی میشود. اما یک بار که مجروح و برای درمان به بیمارستان خارج از زندان منتقل شده، با استفاده از غفلت نگهبان مستقیم خود و پوشیدن لباس یک روحانی بستری در بیمارستان، موفق به فرار میشود. رضا مارمولک، با مصونیتی که در لباس تازه پیدا کرده خود را به شهرکی مرزی می رساند تا با به دست آوردن گذرنامه جعلی از کشور خارج شود. اما شهرک که در انتظار ورود یک روحانی به عنوان امام جماعت است، او را به اشتباه مورد استقبال قرار داده و امامت جماعت محلی را به عهده اش میگذارند. رضا مارمولک به شیوه و برداشت های خود، مردم را موعظه و راهنمایی میکند و خطاهایش را نیز اهالی، تعبیر به اعتقادات نیکوکارانه اش میکنند و... Play these two roles. Men should play two roles for women. Women too should play two roles for men. However, some men and women aren’t able to play both of these roles. These two roles have been mentioned using the words “love and compassion” in this verse. They have been mentioned but not explained. Your wife’s age is close to your age. And women have their own personalities. They might even manage you. They understand a lot too. Today’s women understand a lot. But sometimes they like to play the role of a spoiled, little girl who is being cute for her dad. In such a case, you should act like her father. You should act nobly. She may cry and complain. Say, “Aw, it’s ok. I’ll buy it for you!” Act nobly. Don’t act childishly. When she’s acting childishly you behave nobly. You’re like her father. Sometimes a woman plays this role. At other times your wife isn’t playing the role of a little girl who is being cute for her dad. She plays the role of a mother for a little boy, which is you. You too sometimes become like a little boy who needs his mom. Women should keep this in mind that their husbands have just been separated from their moms! Today’s young men are a little spoiled. If you see a man who asks a lot for kindness from his wife, this means he has become a little too feminine. No, you’re a man. Be firm. But sometimes a man breaks down like a little boy and needs his wife to behave nobly. His wife should say, “It’s ok. It’ll be alright.” Like a mom. Have you seen how moms act at home? Women should play this role. So the role of a little girl and a mom are two coupled roles that a skilled women should play at home. And the role of a dad and a little boy are two coupled roles that men should play for women.

The 29th juz has 10 makki surahs and 1 madani surah. Meccan surahs focus on aqeedah and one of the primary beliefs is the day of accountability. The Qur’an explores the theme of ma’ad in great depth. In Surah Ma’arij for example Allah swt describes the day as incredibly long, feeling as though it is 50,000 years. The prophet (s) however is told to look forward to this day, and find comfort in it. Since the day of judgment is a day of accountability, it is the day of true justice and a manifestation of God’s perfection. A question to ask ourselves is if we genuinely believe in the occurrence of this day? Do our beliefs manifest into actions?

Juz 10 contains the last 35 verses of Surat al-Anfal and the first 92 verses of Surat at-Tawbah. Tawbah means “to turn to” and often refers to repentance--when one turns to God. This surah is also called Bara’ah from the first word of the chapter, meaning to disassociate. This chapter discusses the outcome for those who aggressively continued to attack Islam and Rasulullah (s). Surat at-Tawbah is the only surah in the Qur’an that does not start with Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. Scholars opine it may be because Surat at-Tawbah is a continuation of Surat al-Anfal, and the basmalah at the beginning of Surat al-Anfal suffices for Surat at-Tawbah. Alternatively, it may be because it was not befitting to begin a chapter of harsh subject matter, with two names describing God’s incredible mercy. However, the contents of the verses somewhat contradict the latter opinion due to discussions of tawbah. God’s Mercy is not independent of His Justice. This chapter also mentions many of the tests that the Muslims went through subsequent to the conquest of Mecca, which should encourage introspection on our relationship with Allah (swt) and in what circumstances are we willing to obey Allah (swt). Are we only willing to submit in times of ease and convenience, or also through difficulty and inconvenience?
