The Syrian army continues its offensive against foreign-backed insurgents in the city of Aleppo, making more advances in the area. Syrian troops have regained full control of the village of Sheikh Najjar and the strategic Ghali Hill on the outskirts of Aleppo. A large number of foreign-backed insurgents, including some foreigners, were also killed in the offensive. It was the latest in a series of military operations against militants who receive military aid from their supporters in Western countries and their regional allies. Meanwhile, thousands of residents of the city of al-Hasakeh in northeastern Syria took to the streets to show their support for President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian Army. The demonstrators also chanted slogans condemning the militants\\\' atrocities.

The al-Ghirayib family lives in one of the stranger manifestations of Israel's 43-year occupation of the West Bank: a Palestinian house inside a metal cage inside an Israeli settlement. The family's 10 members, four of them children, can only reach the house via a 40-yard (meter) passageway connecting them to the Arab village of Beit Ijza farther down a hill. The passageway passes over a road used by Israeli army jeeps and is lined on both sides with a 24-foot-high (8-meter) heavy-duty metal fence. After some fun zooming around, while going up a hill the wind suddenly stops and Pingu and his ice-surfer go crashing back down. The sheet he\'s used for the sail is now filthy. Pingu mournfully goes back home, is told off by his mother for dirtying the sheet, and has to clean it. As he is doing this, with not very much success, Robby comes along. By swish-swashing his tail, Robby very quickly gets the sheet spotless. Mother is very pleased by the result, and Pingu and Robby share a fish given to them by Mother as a reward. Pingu asks Mother if she would like a bit, but she doesn\'t.

US President Barack Obama has repeated his warning that any new sanctions against Iran would derail the talks to resolve the issue over the country\\\'s nuclear program. But his remarks appear to be falling on deaf ears on Capitol Hill. Recently the Senate began moves to expedite a vote on a bill that would impose new anti-Iran sanctions. This has created concerns that a the nuclear deal that Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany sealed last month is already at risk.

US President Barack Obama has renewed his presidential campaign vow to shut the notorious military jail at Guantanamo Bay. Obama said the U-S Congress should first lift the remaining restrictions on prisoners\' transfers. However, he stopped short of offering any proposal on how to close the jail, with its remaining one-hundred 55 inmates. Obama made the remarks during his State of the Union address at the U-S Capitol Hill. He also touched on America\'s foreign policy, promising to declare an end to the 12-year war in Afghanistan at the end of 20-14. On a different note, he spoke of Iran\'s nuclear energy program, and vowed to veto any new sanctions bill against Tehran. Obama urged the congress to give diplomacy a chance to succeed.

In the US, a camera crew from an Atlanta television station has filmed an incident that shows why Icy roads require their own kind of driving skills! The footage shows a vehicle sliding down a hill before hitting the side of the road. Moments later a passer-by in hi-visibility jacket comes to help the driver but only before another car spins out of control and slams into the stationary car. But that\'s not all. After bystanders call an ambulance for the drivers, a third car skids across the same part of the icy road and comes to an abrupt stop near the first two. The incident follows a snow storm that had nearly shut down Atlanta on Wednesday.
