The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons has opened its Conference of the States Parties in The Hague. Top on the agenda is the organization\'s mission to get Syrian chemical stockpiles out of the country by the year-end for final destruction. Meanwhile, Iran\'s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham has said that Iran will actively participate in the conference. She added that as a victim of chemical weapons used by former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, Iran will be influential in the decisions made by the O-P-C-W. Iran\'s Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi will also make a speech at the conference on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement. Press TV\'s Nargess Moballeghi who is currently at the venue of the conference, has sent us this update.

Corruption in Iran-UAE Gas Agreement. What is today known as Crescent case was an agreement signed in 2001 between National Iranian Oil Company, NIOC and United Arab Emirates oil and gas company Crescent to sell the company gas. The case is now in International Hague Arbitration Tribunal for corruption. According to the signed contract, Iran was obligated to export sour gas from joint Iran-UAE oil and gas field, Salman to UAE for twenty five years. Iranian officials say that the incentive to sign the contract was signed not national interest but corruption and bribe. According to Iranian Judiciary some of the officials involved in this case have already been convicted of taking bribe in Iran\'s criminal court.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague says the extremists fighting against the Syrian government pose a threat to Europe. The warning comes as a fierce battle is underway between the Syrian army and al-Qaeda affiliated groups, whose ranks have been swollen by an influx of thousands of foreign militants in recent months. Hague made the remarks at the opening of the Manama Dialog on security, weeks ahead of an international peace conference on Syria. Foreign nationals operating alongside al-Qaeda militants in Syria have stated that the United States and Britain will be their next targets. Ironically, the insurgents have enjoyed logistic and financial support from some Western and regional countries.

Britain is seeking Pakistan\'s help in its track-two diplomacy to finalize a deal with Taliban in Afghanistan to facilitate a trouble-free pullout of NATO forces next year. Britain\'s Foreign Secretary, is holding talks with Pakistani officials in Islamabad on how to bring the Afghan militants back on the negotiating table after they suspended their negotiations with Washington.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany are preparing for the fourth day of talks on the Iranian nuclear energy program in Geneva, Switzerland. Hours before they wrapped up Friday\'s discussions, all the signs looked positive that a final deal could be sealed to end a decade-long standoff over the Iranian nuclear energy program. The chief diplomats of the US, France, Britain and Germany said they will be joining the Geneva talks on Saturday. The Chinese foreign minister is also expected to arrive later in the day. They\'re expected to narrow the differences and finalize a nuclear deal with Iran, which fell through in the last round of talks a fortnight ago. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is already in Geneva and has held a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. Zarif also held multiple meetings with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, with the last one ending late on Friday night.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague says Hassan Habibollah-Zadeh\'s planned trip to London follows a visit by his British counterpart Ajay Sharma to Tehran last week. Diplomatic ties between the two countries turned sour after the storming of the British embassy by students in Tehran two years ago. Appeals judges at a war crimes court in the Hague say Bosnian Serb wartime leader Radovan Karadzic must stand trial on two counts of genocide, reversing a decision by a lower court last year. In June 2012, the Hague Tribunal ruled that the prosecution did not present sufficient evidence to find Radovan Karadzic guilty on charges of genocide in seven municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Israel's FM rejects freeze extension Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has rejected international calls for extending Tel Aviv's partial settlement freeze in the occupied Palestinian territories. The Israeli official told his British counterpart William Hague on Saturday that Israel would not extend the moratorium in the West Bank. "Israel has made numerous gestures over the past year, and now it's the Palestinians' turn. Israel will gladly continue negotiating without preconditions, including those related to the moratorium," Lieberman said. His remarks came after the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States have all called on Israel to extend the freeze to help the continuation of talks between Tel Aviv and the Palestinian Authority (PA). Last November, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced a 10-month freeze on illegal settlement expansion projects, which will expire late September. Acting Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmoud Abbas has warned that he would leave the negotiations if Israel continues its settlement activities in the occupied territories. The Israeli foreign minister claimed that the freeze was merely an "excuse" for the PA to thwart the talks. "Those who look for excuses will find them even if the freeze is extended," Lieberman went on to say. France, Britain, Spain, Germany, and Italy say the expulsions are in response to the Friday massacre of civilians in Houla. Canada and Australia are doing the same. British foreign secretary William Hague says the US will also take similar action. This is the latest form of pressure by Western states and their allies on the Syrian government that blame Damascus for killing civilians since unrest erupted in Syria over a year ago. UK fails to freeze Mubarak - era assets - English

Taking time off from studies and work, Iranians in the Netherlands go to the Iranian Embassy in The Hague to cast their votes for the eleventh presidential election. With only one polling station across the Netherlands, they have travelled from virtually all parts of the country to be a part of the most important political event taking place in their country. The Iranian Ambassador told Press TV that the Embassy had set up an executive board headed by the Ambassador himself and five Iranian residents in the Netherlands to oversee the election. A considerable number of voters are the Iranians studying or employed at the institutions of higher education in the Netherlands.

Britain calls on israel to avoid taking any action that would disrupt the nuclear deal with Iran. Hague urged Tel Aviv and others opposing the deal to confine their criticism to rhetoric. He told parliament he hoped a comprehensive nuclear agreement with Tehran could be reached within a year. His remarks come after Israel denounced the agreement as a historic mistake.

Under the Geneva deal between Iran and five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council plus Germany, the western countries have agreed to ease sanctions on Iran in response to Tehran\'s confidence-building move to continue its nuclear energy program at a lower level. But, there are different accounts of the exact timing of the partial sanctions removal. The U-S says Iran will see up to seven-billion-dollars worth of its frozen assets un-blocked. Out of this amount, Washington is expected to un-freeze some four-point-two billion dollars in oil revenue frozen in foreign banks. But, some remaining 40 billion dollars of Iran\'s oil export money will remain frozen. This is the amount Iran obtained through selling its oil under U-S and E-U sanctions imposed in early 20-12. Iran could also access another four-hundred-million dollars for educational purposes, such as the transfer of university tuition fees. France\'s Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius says this could happen in December. But British Foreign Secretary William Hague, as well as the spokesman for E-U\'s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton, say they expect the sanctions easing to be completed in January.
