http://www.presstv.ir/Program/215077.html The Bahrain Independent Commission Inquiry was established on the 29th of June 2011 by King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa. The commission has been tasked with investigating and reporting on the events that took place in Bahrain from February 2011. There are concerns that there could be serious political and social ramifications from the serious biases and deficiencies in the report. The commission which has been paid for and set up by the regime that has committed these acts has led to human rights organizations to question its legitimacy. The results of the commission came out on the 23rd of November and the government says it has formed a working group to study the report, which calls for an examination of people's political, economic and social grievances, but opposition parties say no one has contacted them. Questions have arisen on whether any external pressure for reform especially by the US be thwarted by Saudi Arabia who would not want to empower the opposition in Bahrain. It is also important to note that Bahrain hosts the US fifth fleet. In this edition of the show we ask; Bahrain: Is the government serious about reforms?

Bahraini regime forces have attacked anti-government protesters at a demonstration held to condemn the repression. Saudi-backed Bahraini forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters in the village of Daih, west of the capital Manama. On Friday, tens of thousands of demonstrators took to the streets to protest against the regime\'s crackdown. The demonstration was called by Bahrain\'s main opposition group, al-Wefaq. Ahead of the action, al-Wefaq issued a statement accusing the ruling Al Khalifah regime of failing to implement the recommendations made by a commission of inquiry. Al-Wefaq also condemned the continued arrests, political trials, and discrimination against the Shia majority in the Persian Gulf island nation.

Protests continue in Egypt despite warnings from the country\'s military-backed government. Egyptians protested in several cities on Saturday, chanting slogans against the military\'s coup and demanding the release of protestors in jail. This comes after the country\'s minister of interior issued a warning against demonstrations, saying they will be dealt with decisively. Mass protests in Egypt continue amid clashes between supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi and security forces. Public protests started following Morsi\'s ouster by the military in July.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 96 people from the opposition front were killed during fierce clashes in the East Ghuta region. More than 50 of them were killed on Sunday alone. The monitoring group says 56 Syrian soldiers also lost their lives in the fighting. Syria has been the scene of unrest since nearly three years ago. Damascus blames some foreign countries for the ongoing conflict.

Anti-government protesters in Bahrain are trying to make their voices heard as top international officials gather in Manama for a security conference. Thousands of people rallied in the village of Sa\'ar near Manama and at some points the demonstrators clashed with regime forces. Police attacked the protesters with tear gas and sound bombs trying to disperse them. Senior officials including those from Britain and the United States are attending the two-day Manama dialog forum. U-S Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel will also address the meeting. Bahrain which hosts the U-S Navy\'s fifth fleet has cracked down on protests since the revolution began in 20-11.

Meanwhile, thousands of people have taken to the streets of Rome to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Enrico Letta\'s government. The protesters, who\'re angry over the government\'s harsh austerity measures and high unemployment, called for fresh elections. They also accused the ruling class of corruption. The relatively calm protest turned violent after the demonstrators broke a journalist\'s camera, accusing them of being terrorists. The rally was organized by the anti-European Forconi or Pitchfork movement, which has been demanding more national sovereignty and lower taxes. The movement initially started as a farmers\' movement and was later joined by truck drivers and students. The Italian president has warned that failure to swiftly introduce reforms to help struggling citizens could plunge the country into violent social unrest.

People in Pakistan\\\'s North Waziristan accuse government forces of killing civilians during an anti-Taliban operation in the region. Local residents have put the civilian death toll at several dozen. They say a large number have also fled their homes following days of military shelling and aerial raids. The army launched an offensive in response to an attack on a checkpoint in North Waziristan. Pakistan\\\'s mountainous border with Afghanistan is known as a stronghold for Taliban militants. Military officials say nearly two dozen militants have been killed in clashes with security forces since last week. Authorities have also imposed a curfew across the lawless region.

Thousands of Yemeni demonstrators pour into the streets of the capital Sana\'a after Friday prayers, calling for the downfall of the government. The protesters criticized the government\'s failure to end the violence in the country which has risen in the month of December, following a number of politically motivated assassinations and the attack on Yemen\'s defense ministry which killed over 56 people .

In Turkey, a high-level bribery and corruption investigation involving high-ranking officials has led to another outpouring of anger toward the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
