Egypt\'s top army generals have cleared the way for army chief Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to run for president. Military commanders claim the people\'s trust in Sisi is a call that must be heeded. Sisi has not said has not said whether he will seek the country\'s highest office.

Egypt\'s military chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has held talks with Russia\'s President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. During the meeting, Putin said he will support Sisi\'s bid for president if he decides to run in Egypt\'s upcoming election. Putin also backed Egypt\'s new constitution. Sisi has yet to announce his candidacy for Egypt\'s presidential election. His visit to Russia comes amid continued protests in the country against the interim government, which Sisi installed after toppling former president Moahmed Morsi on July the third. Egyptian security forces have harshly cracked down on the demonstrators, killing hundreds of them.

The Egyptian army has given politicians 48 hours to meet the demands of the people and resolve the ongoing political crisis in the African country. The Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said in a Monday statement that if political forces fail to agree to the popular demands, the military will offer its own road map to end the crisis. The military warning comes after the opposition set July 2 as a deadline for President Mohamed Morsi to step down. The massive protests on Sunday came on the first anniversary of Morsi\\\'s inauguration as president following the 2011 revolution that toppled the Western-backed regime of Hosni Mubarak. The demonstrators are angry at Morsi\\\'s handling of the economy and failure to fulfill his electoral promises.

Following several days of mass protests that had gripped the country on a national level, the Egyptian army has ousted the country\'s first democratically elected President Mohamed Morsi in a move described by the ousted president as a full military coup. That was the final decision after army\'s 48-hour ultimatum for political factions to reach an agreement came to an end. General Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, Head of Egypt\'s Armed Forces accompanied with religious authorities as well as political figures announced the decision and presented a political roadmap for the transition period. Egypt\'s army chief has ousted President Mohamed Morsi and dissolved the country\'s constitution in a move aimed at resolving the country\'s debilitating political crisis. General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi made the announcement on state television on Wednesday. Sisi also said that new parliamentary elections will be held, and declared head of Supreme Constitutional Court Adli Mansour as the caretaker leader. The army announced the roadmap hours after its two-day ultimatum to Morsi came to an end. Sisi said that the army was fulfilling its \"historic responsibility\" to protect the country, and Morsi had \"failed to meet the demands of the Egyptian people.\" Meanwhile, opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei said the roadmap announced by Sisi \"meets the people\'s demands for early presidential elections.\" Egypt\'s second largest Islamist group, the al-Nour Party, also said it agreed to the army roadmap in order to put an end to the country\'s political crisis.

Egyptian interim President Adly Mansour has sworn in the country\\\'s first government since the military ouster of former president, Mohamed Morsi, two weeks ago. Liberal economist Hazem el-Beblawi took his oath before army-appointed interim president to head the interim cabinet as new prime minister. In the interim government, Chief of the Armed Forces General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, who led Morsi\\\'s removal from office, holds the post of first deputy prime minister while retaining his defense portfolio. Nabil Fahmy, who served as Egypt\\\'s ambassador to Washington from 1999 to 2008, holds the post of foreign minister and Morsi\\\'s interior minister, Mohammed Ibrahim, retains his portfolio. There are three women ministers in the new cabinet, including Health Minister Maha el-Rabat. The Muslim Brotherhood, which had earlier dismissed the interim government\\\'s reconciliation offer as lies, refused to recognize the new cabinet and denounced it as \\\"illegitimate.\\\"

Egyptian security forces kill a student after storming the dormitory of al-Azhar University. Dozens others are injured. Security forces have also detained dozens of students who support ousted president Mohamed Morsi. One of the buildings inside the university campus was set on fire during the attack in the capital, Cairo. On Wednesday, Egyptians staged protests against military rule in different towns and cities, including Alexandria, Tanta and Helwan. The demonstrators chanted slogans against army chief Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. Egypt has been gripped by a political crisis and street protests since the army toppled President Morsi in early July. Thousands have been killed as the military cracks down on demonstrations across the country. Thousands of others have also been arrested.

Egyptians have held a mass funeral for victims of the violence that broke out on the third anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution. The situation remains tense across the country, a day after deadly clashes pitting supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi against the security forces and rival demonstrators. The Health Ministry says nearly fifty people died in the clashes during demonstrations marking the anniversary of Egypt\'s 2011 revolution. Most of the victims are believed to be supporters of Morsi. Amnesty International has issued a report saying that Egypt has seen violence on an unprecedented scale since Morsi\'s ouster in a military coup in July. Meanwhile, Egypt\'s interim government announced on Sunday that it had decided to hold the presidential election before the parliamentary polls. The move is likely to intensify speculation over whether army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will be a candidate in the presidential election.

Anti-coup marches kicked off early on Friday morning this week, even before the Friday prayer started in several provinces across the country. Protesters denounced the endorsement of field marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to run for presidency. Although, many said they were not surprised.
