Afghanistan rejects the U-S demand that Kabul sign a security deal between the two countries as soon as possible.
A spokesman for Afghan President Hamid Karzai says the agreement must wait until after next year\'s presidential election, even if it\'s approved by the Loya Jirga and the parliament. This, after the White House said Karzai\'s failure to sign the Bilateral Security Agreement, or B-S-A, by the end of this year would prevent Washington and its allies from planning for post-20-14 presence in Afghanistan. On Thursday, Karzai said he was willing to delay the signing of the B-S-A until after next year\'s presidential election. However, ordinary Afghans are angry over raids by American and other foreign troops. And they\'ve held protests against the security deal with the U-S.

Israel\'s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is under fire by Israeli media for squandering public money on a posh lifestyle.
Reports of Netanyahu\'s plush items of interest come at a time when Tel Aviv is facing tough austerity measures. In a detailed document released by a civil liberties group, Netanyahu\'s alleged expenses on fancy whim-wham, including scented candles, flowers and ice cream, exceeded 900-thousand dollars in 2013 alone. Israelis have long been weary of Netanyahu\'s lavish lifestyle, and his failure to address the middle class\'s economic woes. Activists have held several large rallies to protest Tel Aviv\'s economic policies. Netanyahu\'s office has responded by saying that this year, they\'ve spent less than last year.

The leader of Lebanon\\\\\\\'s Hezbollah movement says Saudi Arabia was behind last month\\\\\\\'s twin bomb attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut. Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah told a Lebanese TV channel that he has no doubt that the al-Qaeda affiliated group which claimed responsibility for the attack was linked to the Saudi intelligence agency. Nasrallah also noted that the blasts, which targeted the Iranian Embassy in south Beirut, were related to Saudi Arabia\\\\\\\'s anger toward Iran and its failure in Syria. Saudi Arabia has supported and funded the insurgent groups fighting against the Syrian government. The November 19 embassy bombings left 25 people dead and over a hundred and fifty injured.

Meanwhile, thousands of people have taken to the streets of Rome to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Enrico Letta\'s government.
The protesters, who\'re angry over the government\'s harsh austerity measures and high unemployment, called for fresh elections. They also accused the ruling class of corruption. The relatively calm protest turned violent after the demonstrators broke a journalist\'s camera, accusing them of being terrorists. The rally was organized by the anti-European Forconi or Pitchfork movement, which has been demanding more national sovereignty and lower taxes. The movement initially started as a farmers\' movement and was later joined by truck drivers and students. The Italian president has warned that failure to swiftly introduce reforms to help struggling citizens could plunge the country into violent social unrest.

After a meeting with Hamid Karzai in Kabul, a group of American senators, including John McCain and Lindsay Graham, said they expect the agreement to be signed soon. They have also noted that such a failure would pose a threat to Afghanistan and the region. Karzai has so far delayed signing the accord with the United States. The Afghan president says he won\\\'t sign any agreement that allows continued raids on Afghan homes. Without a signed deal, all U-S and NATO forces would have to withdraw from Afghanistan. The U-S-led foreign forces are blamed for many civilian deaths in the country. The senators have also warned Karzai about the release of 88 Bagram prisoners in north Kabul. Afghanistan says it\\\'s found insufficient evidence to continue their detention. But, Washington says the prisoners pose a serious security threa

A new poll gives yet another grim assessment of US-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. A majority of Americans now say their country failed to achieve its goals in either country.
According to a joint USA Today-Pew Research survey, about 52 percent of Americans say their country has not succeeded in Iraq and Afghanistan. A majority of respondents also criticized the U-S military action in Iraq. Views on the failure in Iraq differ little across party lines. However, there\'s division over the Afghan war with more Republicans than Democrats calling it the right decision. The public\'s critical assessment stands in contrast to opinions in 2011 after al-Qaeda-leader Osama bin Laden was allegedly killed by the US in Pakistan.

The US Secretary of State criticizes Russia for what he calls support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
John Kerry has said that with support from Moscow, Damascus stonewalled the second round of peace talks in Geneva. He added that such support would let the Syrian president continue destroying his own country. Kerry also blamed the Syrian government for the failure of the Geneva talks-- saying the government delegation refused to open up one moment of discussion during the meetings. Kerry made the remarks hours after Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem accused Washington of trying to create a very negative climate for dialog in Geneva.

Iran and the P5+1 resume nuclear talks some three months after reaching an interim deal. Iran says the dismantling of its nuclear facilities is not on the agenda. Just a few days ago, the country\'s leader, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said he was \"not optimistic\" about the negotiations but would not oppose them. Does Iran have good reasons to distrust the US? Is a final agreement within reach? I\'m Homa Lezgee and you\'re watching the Debate.
Guests:
-Press TV Newsroom Director, Hamid Reza Emadi (Tehran).
- American Institute for Foreign Policy, Michael Linn (Washington).
Subjects:
1) In Geneva both parties agreed that \"the Iranian nuclear program will be treated in the same manner as that of any non-nuclear weapon state party to the non-proliferation treaty\". Yet Wendy Sherman, the US nuclear negotiator, told Congress she believes that Iran has no need for either a heavy water reactor or the second enrichment facilities in Fordo. She added that Iran should give up some centrifuges. All these demands go beyond the requirements of the NPT. How do you explain the duplicity?
2) Iran has announced it won\'t suspend activities in the Arak heavy water reactor, will not reduce the number of its centrifuges or stop RD-related projects...so is there going to be major disagreements about the agenda of the talks?
3) American insistence on \"zero enrichment in Iran\" is one reason for the failure of past talks. Last November\'s deal was only possible because the US was prepared to be more realistic.
4) Measures that go beyond the NPT may be required for a time to build confidence.
5) As long as the US keeps repeating its threat that \"all options are on the table\", including military action, compromise seems uncertain...
6) What is a compromise? Iran will probably have to accept temporary limitations on its nuclear program and submit to extra inspections. In return, world powers must respect the country\'s right to the peaceful use of nuclear technology, including enrichment.
7) How do you interpret the recent remarks by Iran\'s leader that he is \"not optimistic\" about the negotiations? Does Tehran have good reasons to distrust the US?
8) Is a final agreement within reach?

Does the leader of the Muslims always have to be a Ma’sum [infallible]? Ultimately, yes! How can one strive for perfection if ones’ ultimate leader is not a perfect servant of Allah? But how about in the time when the infallible Imam is in occultation? Shaykh Usama brilliantly presents the example of the Tawwabin- they ought to have followed Muslim Ibn Aqeel - a non-Ma’sum leader - but their failure to do so lead to the martyrdom of Imam Husayn [A]. Sayyid Haydar Hasanayn delivers a heartbreaking poetic recounting of the martyrdom of Muslim Ibn Aqeel, the messenger of Imam Husayn (A) who was sent to gain the support of the treacherous people of Kufa. Their betrayal of Muslim Ibn Aqeel and their failure to support the Imam of their time led to the massacre of Imam Husayn (A) and his family on the day of Ashura in Karbala. Every year, Muslims across the globe mourn Imam Husayn (A) and renew their faith in Allah and his Messenger (S).
This series is based on the authentic historical accounts of the tragedy of Karbala according to the Maqtals of Imam Husayn (A) and Lahoof.

A new chapter was opened in Afghanistan on October 7, 2001, when the US warplanes began launching heavy strikes against the Taliban in different parts of Afghanistan.
Most Afghans were optimistic following the ouster of the Taliban government in the autumn of 2001. It was a new beginning for the people to build a new country under the US presence and its commitments to the people and government of Afghanistan.
Despite certain achievements, especially in the fields of democracy and women’s rights, many here believe that such achievements can never be compared to the amount of misery they have tolerated over the past years.
Uprooting terrorism in Afghanistan, poppy eradication and bringing stability were known as the top priorities of US and its allies after the overthrow of the Taliban regime.
However, the bitter story of over 3 million drug addicts in Afghanistan alongside the rising unemployment in the country show a big failure in these areas.
Let\'s not forget that 18 years of US-led NATO military presence in Afghanistan has also created an environment for terrorist groups to push the country into further chaos, as they name the US and its allies as their enemies.
