Iran says inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, the I-A-E-A, will visit the country\'s Arak heavy-water plant this coming Sunday.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says the visit comes in response to a request by the I-A-E-A. It also says this will be in line with Tehran\'s goodwill gesture to remove ambiguities over Iran\'s nuclear energy program. Tehran says the I-A-E-A\'s request is based on an accord reached between the Islamic Republic and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva last month. It will be the third time I-A-E-A inspectors will visit Arak\'s heavy water reactor.

Iran says the West must avoid adventurism over its nuclear energy program.
Ali Akbar Salehi, the director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, has stated that the West\'s efforts to undermine the nuclear deal reached in Geneva last November would be self-defeating. Salehi has criticized US officials\' recent remarks about Iran\'s nuclear program. He says such remarks violate the terms of the Geneva deal signed by Iran and the five permanent members of the Security Council plus Germany. Salehi added that any adventurism targeting Iran would only boomerang on the West and Iran would lose nothing.

Ahmadinejad: IAEA under pressure
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is under Western pressure when it comes to reporting on Iran's nuclear program.
"Western powers have dominated the agency. So when they prepare a new report they pick on two issues," Ahmadinejad told reporters on Friday. "They are not even sure to which legal article they can adhere to when they seek to speak against us."
"They speak in general terms, and do not provide any evidence to show that we have committed any violations," he added.
The president criticized the agency's latest report, in which Director General Yukiya Amano concludes that the IAEA verifies the non-diversion of "declared" nuclear material in Iran, but has adopted unusual wording with regard to the country's safeguards obligations.
"We say we have shown you everything that we have...and when we ask them to show proof of the existence of this undeclared material, they ask us in turn to offer evidence that they are non-existent."
Iranian officials reject Western accusations that Tehran is pursuing a military nuclear program, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Iran has the right to peaceful nuclear energy.

[23 June 2012] Iranian president in Venezuela to boost bilateral ties - English
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warmly greeted his close ally Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the presidential palace in Caracas. The Iranian leader arrived in Venezuela's capital from stops in Brazil, where he attended the United Nations Rio+20 conference in Rio de Janeiro, and Bolivia.Chavez and Ahmadinejad vowed to keep building closer ties. The Venezuelan president has expressed solidarity with Iran on its nuclear energy program which Iran insists it's for peaceful purposes.
Caracas and Tehran have signed an estimated five billion dollars worth of trade deals and accords since 2001 including construction projects, car factories and most recently an agreement for Caracas to manufacture unmanned aerial aircrafts better known as drones. The United States has looked at these accords with disapproval and last year put sanctions on Venezuela's state oil company for making deals with Iran's energy sector.Chavez criticized the sanctions against Iran and pledged to continue being Tehran's key ally in Latin America. This is President Ahmadinejad second visit to Venezuela this year. According to Hugo Chavez there have been more than 300 bilateral accords signed by both countries.

[06 Aug 2012] Panetta raises threat of military attack on Iran Galloway - English
US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has raised the threat of a military attack on Iran regarding its nuclear energy program in an effort to reassure what they call Israel during a trip to Tel Aviv. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to dismiss the tough talk though, saying American statements of solidarity with Israel and hints at military attacks are not working. Iran however has denied the Western accusations that Tehran is seeking a military objective in its nuclear energy program. According to a Fatwa from the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei Iran is prohibited to follow such an objective. Russian President Vladimir Putin was in London on Thursday to discuss the Syrian issue with David Cameron. So far, Russia and China have opposed any kind of UN resolution that could be seen as supporting Libyan-style Western military intervention. "Britain has retaliated in part by blocking a Russian arm shipment to Syria but the weaponry keeps getting through at least to those favored by the West," said George Galloway.

[12 Aug 2012] Pakistan resolute to import gas from Iran - English
These violent protests against the long power outages are a grim reminder that Pakistan is in the midst of severe energy crisis.
Many parts of the country remain without electricity for several hours even during the month of Ramadan.
Facing public pressure, the government is exploring several options to meet the country's future energy needs.
One such option is to import natural gas from neighboring Iran.
But Islamabad is under pressure from the United States to abandon the project.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says its inspectors have been allowed to visit the Arak heavy water production plant on December 8. Under the IAEA Safeguards Agreement, Iran is not obliged to allow such inspections. This will be the first time for the IAEA to visit the plant since August 2011. Under a new deal between Iran and the UN\'s nuclear agency, Tehran will, on a voluntary basis, also allow the agency\'s inspectors access to the Gachin uranium mine in Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. The IAEA\'s chief, Amano and the head of Iran\'s Atomic Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi have already signed an agreement for more cooperation on outstanding issues.

Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency have wrapped up what\'s been desrcibed as a productive meeting on Tehran\'s nuclear energy program in the Austrian capital. The two sides will hold a fresh round of talks in Tehran on January 21.
The latest talks follow a recent nuclear deal between Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany. Iran met its first obligation under the I-A-E-A agreement at the weekend, by allowing the UN nuclear agency inspectors to visit Arak\'s heavy-water facility.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran has rejected as baseless any report on the slowdown of some parts of the country\'s nuclear program.
Ali Akbar Salehi noted that Iran\'s nuclear program is going on at full throttle. He went on to say that despite western media claims, the recent deal between Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Councils is not aimed at stopping Iran\'s enrichment program. Salehi said Tehran is conducting researches on different generations of centrifuges with the full knowledge of the International Atomic Energy Agency. He also warned the P5+1 group against misinterpreting Tehran\'s good will in the nuclear talks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has made fresh allegations about Iran\'s nuclear energy program, claiming that it is the biggest threat to global security.
The Israeli prime minister made the remarks during a press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who is on a two-day trip to Tel Aviv. He added that he wants to hold discussions with the German chancellor on ways to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Israel itself possesses at least 200 nuclear warheads. In contrast, Iran is a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and the International Atomic Energy Agency has conducted numerous inspections of its nuclear facilities but has never found any evidence of diversion.
