The eleventh round of Iran\'s Presidential Election has just officially begun with the registration process finally underway as of today May 7th in the interior ministry.
Any Iranian national has until May 11 to register, the date on which all the guesswork surrounding who will and who won\'t decide to run, officially comes to an end and the vetting process by the 12-member guardian council made-up of 6 Islamic faqihs or experts in Islamic jurisprudence and 6 jurists begins with a 24 hour break in between.
The contenders themselves can also choose to withdraw anytime from now until the Election Day (June 14, 2013).
The race will officially begin right after the final list of Presidential hopefuls is announced by the interior ministry after which the candidates are allowed to start their election campaigns.
This is while some candidates have already started giving interviews and appearing on university campuses discussing and promoting their agenda.
So far economy seems to top the list of campaign issues and promises given the current economic dire straits faced by the country.
On this edition of the show we take a closer look at the latest election news including the presidential hopefuls\' solutions for improving Iran\'s economy and the livelihood of their fellow citizens.

In Iran, the spotlight is on the June 14 presidential election. The crucial vote will determine the path the country will be taking for the next four years.
This has to great extent undermined the city and village council elections which are set to be held on the same day as the presidential election.
Since the victory of the Islamic revolution Iranians have gone to the polls three times to vote for the city and village councils. A fourth round was to be held in June 2010 but was postponed for three years according to a decision made by the parliament.
This year 352 thousand hopefuls have registered to compete for 207 thousand seats around the country. Unlike other elections held in Iran, the Guardian Council is not responsible for the vetting process. Instead a parliamentary committee has to decide which of the candidates are qualified to run.
Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, on average one election has been held each year but the fourth round of city and village council elections is different in many ways.
First and foremost it is going be the biggest election ever held in the history of Iran in terms of the number of candidates and the number of seats at stake.
According to law any village with a population of over 100 should have its own council tasked with paving the way for the social, economic, and cultural development of the community that it represents.
In this edition of the show we will be taking a closer look at the preparations made for this round of city and village council elections and the role these councils have played in the development of cities and villages and the services that they provide.

Recent elections outcome have proven Italy to be an anomalous country. One of its most dangerous anomalies concerns newspaper ownership. Business, economic and political interests within the press favor censorship.
Conflict of interest concerns all major Italian media groups and news organizations, such as RCS, L\'Espresso editorial group, Fininvest, Caltagirone editor and many others.
The type of political and business control concerning the press is even more dangerous. Italian newspapers are affected by an astonishing ethical crisis that is far from being solved.
El Pais journalist Juan Arias once said that \"the intertwining between politics and journalism is one of the cancers of Italian journalism.\"
He added that in Italy, journalism is completely tied to power: \"every journalist had been accepted because of a politician\'s recommendation and to that politician, in one way or another, the journalist had to respond.\"
On this week\'s INFocus we interview Italian journalists, University and independent researchers, publishers and politicians to shed light on this issue.

It comes to a consortium of three Indian public sector petroleum companies. They include ONGC Videsh, Indian Oil and Oil India. There could still be serious obstacles. Any company doing business with Tehran could face international economic sanction. The Indian companies are not worried. They are confident that a way could be found to escape these sanctions.

Mohamed Morsi, was elected with a little over 51 % but with many Egyptians hoping that the change will bring positive developments in the country that was ruled with an iron grip for 30 years. Today, one year on, the support for Morsi is dwindling down with polls placing public approval ratings to his performance at 28%. Many Egyptians are dismayed over economic hardships in the form of surge in prices, high inflation as well as power cuts and gas shortages. Many also heavily criticize the presidency and the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization the president hails from for failing to bridge the divide between Islamists who now have power and the secular opposition.

The US trade deficit with China reached $315 billion last year, a record unsurpassed in the history of such statistics.
In April, US exports to the 27-nation European Union fell 7.9 percent. Exports to the EU in the first four months of 2013 were down 7.4 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
Exports to the United Kingdom were the lowest since May 2009, while those to China declined 4.7 percent.
Imports from China surged 21.2 percent, lifting the contentious US trade deficit with China to $24.1 billion from $17.9 billion in March.
China keeps investing in its future, creating jobs, building infrastructure, funding education and technology and its GDP soars. And America keeps sliding into a no-growth economy, to 1% GDP growth in a generation.
According to Robert Fogel, the director of the Center for Population Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and winner of the 1993 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics; \"In 2040, the Chinese economy will reach $123 trillion, or nearly three times the economic output of the entire globe in 2000. China\'s per-capita income will hit $85,000, more than double the forecast for the European Union, and also much higher than that of India and Japan as China moves \"from a poor country in 2000 to a superrich country in 2040.\"
America\'s per-capita wealth may be higher, says Fogel, but \"China\'s share of global GDP - 40% - will dwarf that of the United States (14%) and the European Union (5%) 30 years from now.\"
China has been one of the fastest growing markets for US goods, and exports to that country were up 4.8 percent for the first four months of 2013.

Egypt is tightening security measures along its borders with the Gaza Strip following massive unrest in the country. The new security measures are affecting the daily lives of many Gazans in the coastal enclave. Gaza has been suffering for several years from an Israeli blockade which has caused a lot of difficulty for the people living there. But now the new situation on the Egyptian border is making the economic situation in the coastal enclave much more difficult than before. Due to the tight Israeli blockade, Gaza depends on the tunnels to obtain essential supplies and cheaper fuel. Estimates show 40 percent of the coastal enclave\'s needs come via underground tunnels.

Claimants with poor English are required to improve their language skills as a condition of receiving welfare benefits. Spending on welfare benefits is to be further capped and will enable the government to restrict eligibility for housing benefit and disability allowances.
