- With the surging second wave of the COVID-9 pandemic, the reality of death is a clear and present reality in front of us
- What can we do to remember family and friends who have passed away?
- In Islamic literature, there is a concept of \'isale sawab\' - sending gifts to those who have passed
- Covering the 3 forms of gifts: praying for forgiveness, reciting the Qur\'an, and charity
- The two forms of charity, singular and perpetual
- The need to innovate on charitable actions for the deceased, especially looking at the aspect of constant reprinting of Qur\'ans
- The importance of visiting graves
- Narrating a story told by the Prophet regarding charity
\"When someone passes, the family prints Sura Yasin booklets for distribution hoping it\'s recited, & the thawab will go to the deceased. Tell me which Muslim household doesn\'t already have a Qur\'an? Which Qur\'an doesn\'t already have Sura Yasin? Be creative with your charity, look for something that will both help your community & generate thawab for the deceased, such as children\'s education for example. If you really want to print something, then select a dua from Sahifa Sajjadiyyah, or a sermon from Nahjul Balagha so more people may benefit.\"

Check out this and other cool science experiments at http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/e... The Tea Bag Rocket is really an adaptation of a classic science demonstration called the Ditto Paper Rocket. Each piece of Ditto paper had a sheet of tissue paper that separated the two-part form, and it was this discarded piece of paper that kids used to make the \"rocket.\" Since Ditto paper is a thing of the past, science teachers found a simple replacement - a tea bag. Watch the video and see the floating ball of ashes.

What I find most attractive in storytelling as a technique of teaching is that more than just learning pre-determined knowledge they allow creative and imaginative construction of knowledge itself in the process. Moreover, compared to the traditional techniques in which the teacher is more or less at the center, in the storytelling technique the child is at the center of learning process. Storytelling fosters reasoning and communication skills. It encourages the development of reading habit, social interaction skills, and even problem solving skills (using both rational and emotional reasoning methods). All these are in addition to moral values and knowledge that can be conveyed in the play-out at a deeper level. Also see "A Child's Work: The Importance of Fantasy Play" by Vivian Gussin Paley.

The Gulf nation of Bahrain is intensifying its crackdown on pro-democracy protesters. On Saturday, masked police offers broke into the home of Abdulhadi Alkhawaja, a prominent Bahraini human rights activist. He was beaten and detained. We speak to his daughter, Zainab Alkhawaja, who witnessed the attack and is now on a hunger strike. Her husband and brother-in-law were also beaten and arrested in the pre-dawn raid. We also speak to Nabeel Rajab, the president of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights. He is facing a possible military trial for publishing the photograph of Ali Sager, a protester who died while in Bahraini custody.
