Around the world Shia Muslims are commemorating Arbaeen: the 40th day since the martyrdom anniversary of the grandson of Prophet Mohammad and the third Shia Imam. Millions of people from across the globe have gathered in the holy Iraqi city of Karbala, the resting place of Imam Hussein. Officials estimate that some 15 million pilgrims are attending the ceremonies despite deadly violence by extremist groups. Dozens of pilgrims have been killed in recent days in terrorist attacks despite tight security measures across Iraq. Similar ceremonies are held in other Muslim countries including Iran, Lebanon and Pakistan. Imam Hussein and 72 of his companions were martyred in the Battle of Karbala in the seventh century.

Libyans are commemorating the third anniversary of the beginning of the revolution that toppled former dictator Muammar Gaddafi. In Tripoli, people gathered at the main crossroads of the capital to watch fireworks. Many streets were decked with Libya\'s revolutionary flag, and multicolored lights were strung across the main roads. But for many Libyans there is little to celebrate as the country is plagued by lawlessness. Libya is still struggling to rebuild an army capable of curbing the violence blamed largely on the well-armed militiamen who fought Gaddafi. And the government and the interim parliament are accused of corruption and failing to provide Libyans a better life.

This year, countless millions across the world once again proudly commemorated the mission of Imam Husayn ibn Ali (A) and most eagerly mourned over the martyrdom of Imam Husayn (A), and his family members and companions who accompanied his eminence into the divine hands of martyrdom as they stood up for Truth and Justice against the overwhelming forces of evil and falsehood. And this year, once again, millions of people will gather around the pivot of Imam Husayn (A) on the Day of Arbaeen, commemorating the 40th day after his martyrdom. Yet, what are some inherent attributes of the western systems prevalent across the world in the present-day? Is there truly objectivity in journalism in the western world, especially when we see that for many years there was a media blackout as regards to the Arbaeen procession? How does the Arbaeen procession break the preconceived imposed notions of individualism and materialism? And are the so-called virtues promoted by western civilization based upon a moral and ethical duty or a mere self-centric personal gain? Via what means do the Arrogant Powers try to create anti-ethical attributes in the society? And on the other hand, what are some of the values that are promoted in the Husayni narrative? Is there a manifestation of the Truth where it exists objectively? What is one of the hallmarks of materialism? And what does it mean that your identity is based upon your consumption when in the sphere of materialism? And what does it mean that people become hollow once God is taken out of society; and subsequently, what is placed in that hollow vessel by the Taghut powers? Irans President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has claimed the countrys produced its first batch of 20 percent enriched uranium. He was speaking before millions of supporters in Tehran commemorating the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution. Ahmadinejad declared to the cheering crowd the countrys now a nuclear state but it has no intention of making an atomic bomb.

Hezbollah Secretary General Seyyed Hassan Nasrallah has warned that the movement will strike Israel's infrastructure, including its airports and refineries, in the event of any Israeli attack on Lebanon. During an address commemorating the assassination of three Hezbollah leaders by Israel, Nasrallah vowed to bomb Israel's Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv should the regime hit Beirut's international airport in any future war.

He also threatened that should Israel bomb Lebanon's refineries, factories or power plants, the movement would retaliate with all its might. Iran to unveil new submarines, frigates Commander of the Iranian Army Major General Ataollah Salehi says the country will soon unveil new generations of destroyers, frigates and submarines. Iran will soon unveil and launch the second generation of Jamaran destroyers, Sina class frigates as well as a new generation of submarines, Salehi said Wednesday. He made the remarks on the sidelines of a ceremony commemorating the 1980-1988 Iraqi-imposed war on Iran. Salehi warned against any act of aggression on the country's territory and said Iran could repel any attack due to its deterrent powers. "The enemy should beware that if our country is attacked we will not allow them to leave the region safely," the Iranian commander added. Jamaran -- a multi-purpose warship that blends anti-submarine capabilities with defense systems against surface and air attacks -- became operational earlier this year. Tens of thousands of people have marched through the streets of Beirut, waving flags and banners to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam Hessein (PBUH). The outpouring over the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammad's grandson reached to a crescendo in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut, where Hezbollah secretary general Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah gave a speech. Ashura in lebanon has come to symbolize the conflict with Israel.This occasion according to hezbollah and many of the masses commemorating Ashura should serve as a reminder to certain sides not to surrender to the will of Israel. Sayyed Nasrallah once again underscored the importance of not surrendering to Israel, and called on Arab leaders to embrace the choice of resistance rather than negotiating with Israel, which he described as a waste of time. Sayyed Nasrallah stressed the importance the teachings of Imam Hussein who was martyred in 680 AD by his enemies. Imam Hussein's teachings are considered by Muslims around the world as the basis of resistance against what they believe to be the current forms of occupation and imperialism. The Hezbollah leader also said there is a new western conspiracy against the resistance and its people. Many wore black as a sign of mourning and chanted slogans in support of Hezbollah. The element of Ashura and specifically the effort to fight injustice has been considered by hezbollah as one of its main building blocks. Today with an international tribunal that could indict some of its members hezbollah views itself as a victim of what it believes to be international injustice and has set out to confront this with what it believes to be the real meaning of truthfullness.
