Israel approves the release of 26 Palestinian prisoners under the terms of the renewed so-called peace talks with the Palestinian Authority. The released inmates are considered the second group of prisoners discharged since August. Israeli prison authorities say the inmates will be released at least 48 hours after their names are published. Tel Aviv had said 104 Palestinians would be freed in stages following the start of negotiations on July 30. An Israeli official claimed last week that the move was linked to a deal with the Palestinian Authority in exchange for continued settlement construction in the occupied territories. But the PA has vehemently denied the allegation, saying the construction activities seriously threaten the so-called peace talks, that resumed in July after a three-year halt.

Militancy on the rise in Egypt\'s northern Sinai. Eleven soldiers have been killed and nearly 40 others injured in an attack in the coastal city of el-Arish.
The Egyptian soldiers were killed when a bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into their bus on its way to the capital Cairo. Officials say the soldiers belonged to the Second Field Army that\'s fighting militants in the Sinai Peninsula. No person or group has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack yet. Tensions in Sinai have been on the rise following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi by the army in early July. Militants have mainly targeted policemen, soldiers and politicians. One of the deadliest attacks happened back in August when militants pulled 25 police recruits off a bus and shot them dead on the main road linking Rafah to el-Arish.

The UK police express worries about the future home-coming of British militants fighting alongside insurgents in Syria.
The head of New Scotland Yard\'s counter-terrorism command says the prospect of battle-hardened extremists returning to Britain with sophisticated training and practical experience has become a grave concern in recent months. Richard Walton also says there are already signs that British militants are coming back from Syria with orders to carry out attacks. According to intelligence sources, British extremists make up the biggest chunk of hundreds of Western militants fighting the Syrian government. This, as France and Australia each have about 2-hundred citizens fighting in Syria, with others coming from countries like the United States and Canada.

Iran says inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency, the I-A-E-A, will visit the country\'s Arak heavy-water plant this coming Sunday.
The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran says the visit comes in response to a request by the I-A-E-A. It also says this will be in line with Tehran\'s goodwill gesture to remove ambiguities over Iran\'s nuclear energy program. Tehran says the I-A-E-A\'s request is based on an accord reached between the Islamic Republic and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany in Geneva last month. It will be the third time I-A-E-A inspectors will visit Arak\'s heavy water reactor.
