Pakistani Shias who make up nearly 20 percent of the country\\\'s 180 million population, has been the main target of sectarian violence. The menace has assumed deadly proportions with the beginning of the year 2013. Quetta witnessed the deadliest bombings this year with two suicide blasts that claimed the lives of over 200 Shia Muslims in the city. In another massacre, which shook the port city of Karachi, a powerful bomb with impact radius of over 700 meters exploded in a predominantly Shia neighbourhood of Abbas Town.
The targeted killings still continue unabated across Pakistan particularly the port city of Karachi, the eastern city of Lahore, northern areas bordering China and north western Kurram agency. The Human right watchdog and other right groups point fingers towards the inaction of the government, which they say is not doing enough, or in some cases nothing. The Human Rights Watch in its last year\\\'s report says \\\"The Pakistani government should urgently act to protect the minority Shia Muslim community in Pakistan from sectarian attacks by Sunni militant groups. The government should hold accountable those responsible for ordering and participating in deadly attacks targeting Shia.\\\"
On this week\\\'s INFocus we talk to Shia Muslims in Quetta to bring this issue to the limelight.

A Hezbollah lawmaker says Israel and Saudi Arabia could be behind the terrorist attacks outside Iran\'s embassy in the Lebanese capital Beirut.
This, as Iran has also blamed Israel for the twin bombings in Beirut. Iran\'s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham described the terrorist attacks as an inhumane crime by the Israeli regime and its mercenaries. Meanwhile, the Secretary of Iran\'s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani has condemned the attacks, saying they show the frustration of Tel Aviv and its like-minded terrorist groups. The two blasts outside Iran\'s diplomatic mission in Beirut have left at least 23 people dead. Informed sources say six security guards of the embassy have also been killed. Over a hundred and 40 others were injured as well. Lebanese officials say Iran\'s cultural attaché Ibrahim Ansari has also been killed. At least seven people have been killed in a twin bombing in the Pakistani city of Karachi.
Local officials say 40 people --including women and children -- were also injured in the blasts. Reports say the bombs went off in a Shia area of the city. It\'s not clear who carried out the attacks. But al-Qaeda and its offshoots were behind similar incidents in the past. Meanwhile, a group of protesters have staged a demonstration in the city of Lahore to condemn a recent attack on a Shia religious procession in Rawalpindi. Protesters censured the local government for failing to provide proper security for Shia mourners and demanded that the perpetrators of the attack be brought to justice.

A Bahraini court has sentenced five protesters to 15 years in prison with two of the defendants in absentia.
The Bahraini regime accuses the men of being behind two bomb attacks including one during last year\'s Formula one race. The kingdom\'s state news agency says the protesters have admitted being behind the blasts. Activists, however, say they have pleaded not guilty. The tiny Persian Gulf monarchy is accused of widespread and excessive use of force against protesters, including confessions under torture. The Lebanese Army says D-N-A tests confirm the identity of an arrested Saudi suspect as Majed al-Majed. He is the leader of a terrorist group behind a deadly attack on the Iranian embassy in Beirut.
Majed was arrested on Monday. He is the ring leader of Abdullah Azzam Brigades, an al-Qaeda offshoot. The group launched the attack against the Iranian Embassy on November 19. The back-to-back blasts left at least 23 people dead, including an Iranian diplomat. Over 160 others were also injured in the violence. The Saudi ambassador to Lebanon has said that Beirut should extradite Majed to Riyadh in case the man\\\'s identity is confirmed.
Tehran says a team will be sent to Lebanon to be involved in the interrogation of the man who was behind a terrorist attack on the Iranian Embassy in Beirut.
Iran\\\'s Foreign Minister Mohamamd Javad Zarif appreciated efforts by Lebanese officials in the arrest of Saudi national Majed al-Majed. Zarif made the comments during a phone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart, Adnan Mansour. There is a sad sentiment across Baghdad as several deadly car bombs claimed dozens of lives across the capital. The string of bomb blasts that killed dozens here in Baghdad targeted mostly shia areas. Even a shia mosque was targeted. No one has claimed responsibility for the killings but it is expected that they are attempts by Al Qaeda and its backers to ignite sectarian war in Iraq.
The blast left 11 people dead. Press TV took to the streets to see how Iraqis were handling the fatal incidents. They told us they have had enough.
