Claude Bigio is retired. To earn extra money she started a jewelry business about 7 years ago, but business she says is slow. But Claude also remembers her years working as a young woman, making a decent living. But times in Canada have surely changed, fast forward decades later and unemployment is at 7 point two percent, lower compared to the high rates during the recession, but teenagers and those in their early twenties are still being affected tremendously. A recent report by the CIBC suggests the future generation of Canadians is experiencing chronic unemployment. The youth unemployment rate is more than double the unemployment rate for Canadians aged 25 and older.

A group of protesters have taken to the streets of Tehran for yet another demonstration against the US and its policies.
The protest is the latest in a series of weekly rallies held after Friday prayers. The demonstrators have dubbed this week\'s rally as \"the US apology for racism and deception.\" They chanted slogans against the US and torched its flag. The protesters also stepped on pictures of the US Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman to show their anger at her anti-Iran remarks. Earlier this month, Sherman told a group of US senators that deception is part of the DNA, while she was talking about dealing with Iran.

The world\'s attention is on Syria; a country whose sovereignty is being attacked by western powers and Arab states.
The country is an important one for Muslims worldwide, but not just because of its location amongst other Muslim-majority countries, but because of its religious and political importance throughout history.
It may also be one of a few Muslim-majority countries left that has not been engulfed by a Saudi-led Takfiri culture.
Should Muslims idly wait for a handful of leaders to continue harming Syria\'s sovereignty or should Muslims actively try to protect it.
This week\'s Islam & Life asks: Why should Muslims in Europe be concerned about protecting Syria\'s sovereignty?

It\'s the third day of nuclear negotiations in Geneva. Iran and the permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have wrapped up the first round of talks over Tehran\'s nuclear energy program.
The negotiations are now adjourned for further internal consultations. Iran\'s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif heads the Iranian team and EU\'s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton represents the P-five-plus-one group of countries. They\'re trying to hammer out a draft agreement to resolve the decade-old standoff over Tehran\'s nuclear program. Iran\'s right to uranium enrichment remains one of the major sticking points in the talks. Tehran has already made it clear that any agreement which does not include the issue of enrichment is not acceptable. The previous round of talks failed to reach an agreement after France, under the influence of Israel, blocked a proposed deal.

Afghan President Hamid Karzai has accused the U-S of refusing to provide his country with fuel and military supplies.
He has said in a statement that the move is aimed to put pressure on him to sign a controversial security pact with the U-S. Washington has denied the allegation, and repeated that, unless the deal is signed promptly, it could withdraw most of American forces from Afghanistan. Relations between Kabul and Washington have deteriorated in recent weeks over President Karzai\'s refual to sign the security pact. The deal allows several thousands of U-S troops to remain in Afghanistan after a 20-14 pullout deadline for foreign forces. Karzai has set several conditions to sign the pact which has been approved by the country\'s grand council, Loya Jirga. These include a stop to raids on Afghan civilian homes, among others.

At least nine people have been killed and dozens wounded in different incidents across Iraq. The deadliest incident that involved six fatalities took place in the northern city of Kirkuk when gunmen attacked a shopping mall.
Officials say the shootout with the gunmen lasted for two hours. At least 47 people are believed to have been injured in the gun battle. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack as of yet. But such incidents are usually blamed on militants affiliated to al-Qaeda, who have strongholds around Kirkuk. At least three other people are said to have been killed in separate incidents in Baghdad, Fallujah and Tikrit. Violence in Iraq has surged over the past few months. The fatalities from the start of the year so far have now exceeded 62-hundred.

The U-S and Britain have suspended military assistance to the so-called Free Syrian Army in northern Syria after al-Qaeda-linked insurgents seized the weapons depots belonging to the F-S-A there.
The so-called Islamic Front, which is an umbrella group of al-Qaeda-affiliated rings, captured the arms depots of the Western-backed Free Syrian Army. The seizure near the Bab el-Hawa border crossing with Turkey came after the Islamic Front, which is backed by regional allies of the U-S, announced that it rejected the authority of the F-S-A command. The militant group was formed just last month when six insurgent groups merged together to try and create a new Islamic Emirate in the crisis-hit Arab country.

The blast reportedly occurred at around one A.M. local time at the Dakahlya security headquarters in the Nile Delta province of Mansour. It caused the collapse of parts of the five-floor building. The impact of the explosion was felt around 20 kilometers away and shattered windows of nearby buildings. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Representatives from the US, Russia, China, Syria and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons are to meet in Moscow to discuss ways of safely destroying Syria\\\'s chemical arms.
The meeting will be held behind closed doors. This, as a Russian official says Syria\\\'s chemical weapons will be taken out of the country through its maritime borders. The Arab country agreed to the destruction of its chemical arsenal after the August 21 deadly gas attack near Damascus. The Syrian government and Russia have repeatedly said that the attack was carried out by insurgents to provoke Western governments, particularly the U-S into a military intervention in Syria.

State organizations in Saudi Arabia have desecrated the Holy Qur\'an by discarding over fifty copies in Taif city\'s street sewerage canals.
According to a Saudi official in the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, the incident was reported by a local student, who saw the holy books on his way home in Al-Salama district of Taif.
The service company that specializes in opening drainage inlets was then called, and dozens of copies of the Quran were retrieved.
A photo that shows desecrated books has now gone viral on the internet and social media websites.
This is not the first time the Holy Quran has been desecrated in Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, the move by prison officials in Al-Haer province to insult the Holy Book led to protests in different parts of the Kingdom.
The desecration of the holy Quran in a country, which is the birthplace of Islam, has raised eyebrows in the Muslim world.
This week\'s Islam & Life asks: How do certain stories affect the world\'s perception of Saudi Arabia?

\"When I am drowned in turmoil,
[and] I\'m wandering lost in my own world;
I either go to Mashhad or I become the pilgrim of the Benevolent Lady of Qom.\"
Salutations be upon the believers across the world upon the auspicious birth anniversaries of Lady Fatima Masuma (A) and his eminence, the eighth divinely appointed Imam, Imam Ali al-Redha (A).
This beautiful Surood Nasheed - Barkat-e-Iran - recited by the little soldiers of Imam al-Zaman (A), encapsulates perfectly the feelings of the lovers of Imam Redha (A) and Lady Fatima Masooma (A).
