Israeli settlers have broken into al-Aqsa mosque and clashed with Palestinians there. They were backed by Israeli forces who attacked the Palestinians using tear gas and rubber coated steel bullets. Israeli forces also beat the Palestinian protesters. An emergency press conference was held in Jerusalem Al Quds following the clashes. Leading Islamic figures attended the event calling upon Palestinians and all Arab states to prevent the continued violations of al Aqsa mosque and the rights of Palestinians living in Jerusalem al Quds. Several Israeli settler groups have stormed al-Aqsa mosque from the Moroccan gate in recent days, including youths, children, mentors and soldiers in their military uniforms. The settlers shout and laugh out loud and show no respect for the place. Palestinian officials say the break-ins are part of the Israeli plan to divide the mosque and to impose a fait accompli in the holy city. According to al Aqsa officials, the violations against the mosque occur on almost a daily basis, with a greater strategy of normalising Jews entering al Aqsa compound in a bid to eventually take over the site. In Bahrain, tens of thousands of demonstrators pour onto the streets to protest against the regime\'s crackdown on dissident. The march was called by Bahrain\'s main opposition group al-Wefaq. The protesters called for the release of political detainees. Ahead of the rally, al-Wefaq issued a statement accusing the Al Khalifa regime of failing to implement recommendations made by an inquiry commission. Al-Wefaq has also condemned the continuation of arrests, political trials and discrimination against the Shia majority in the Persian Gulf island. Bahraini authorities have stepped up their crackdown on anti-regime activists over the past few weeks. Several people have been sentenced to lengthy jail terms while other activists have received life sentences.

Al-Qaeda-linked insurgents have executed seven militants from a rival group in Syria. This unverified video shows the al-Qaeda-linked militants shooting Hassan Jazera, the commander of the insurgent group Ghurabaa al-Sham and six of his men in the head. Divisions among insurgents have been deepening in recent months. And the groups have engaged in many deadly clashes in different parts of Syria. Several insurgent commanders have been killed on both sides during the fighting.

Lebanese officials have revealed that they\'re interrogating Majed al-Majed, the leader of the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Abdullah Azzam Brigades. Meanwhile, US national security officials have reportedly described the Lebanese reports on the capture of Majed as credible.

At least 62 al-Qaeda-linked militants have been killed in clashes with Iraqi security forces backed by local tribesmen in the western province of Anbar. A tribal leader says the militants from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant were killed in Ramadi and a district east of the city. Earlier reports said the security forces were in control of most of the areas in Ramadi. They also managed to gain control of some more areas in the nearby city of Fallujah. The two cities in Anbar province have witnessed clashes between security forces and al-Qaeda-affiliated militants over the past several days. The violence broke out after the army removed an anti-government protest camp in Ramadi on Monday. Authorities said the camp was used by al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Nouri al-Maliki has, in a televised speech, demanded that the militants in Anbar province surrender. He\'s also promised to be lenient on them in case they turn themselves in. Iraqi troops have besieged Fallujah as they prepare for a major offensive to drive the militants out. But concerns about the lives of the city residents have complicated the operation. Meanwhile, Iraqi forces together with local tribesmen have reportedly taken control of 90 percent of the city of Ramadi in the same province. Local tribesmen have joined the army over the past week to reverse the surge of the al-Qaeda militancy. In the neighboring Babil province, government forces have arrested an al-Qaeda-linked leader and destroyed a militant camp in an airstrike.

An Al-Qaeda-linked group has issued a threat to Hezbollah, saying it would continue its attacks against the Lebanese resistance movement. In a statement posted on the Internet, the group, known as the Al-Nusra Front in Lebanon, says -- Hezbollah and its bases are legitimate targets. The statement comes just three days after the group claimed responsibility for a car bombing in Beirut\'s southern suburbs that killed four people. That was the sixth in a string of terrorist attacks in Lebanon in recent months. Another al-Qaeda-linked outfit, the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, carried out a twin bombing in front of the Iranian Embassy in Beirut in November. The attacks claimed the lives of 23 people -- including an Iranian diplomat.

Bahraini forces have raided the funeral of an anti-regime activist who died in prison two days ago. Tear gas was fired to disperse thousands of people who had gathered at the funeral of Jafar al-Dirazi in his home town of al-Daih. Bahrain\'s main opposition party al-Wefaq announced on Wednesday that the 22-year-old, who suffered from anemia, died in jail due to torture and lack of medical treatment. He is one of scores of activists who have lost their lives at the hands of the Manama regime since February 20-11, when an uprising against the Al Khalifa regime started.
