The Palestinian Exile - also known as Al Nakba - Arabic for - The Catastrophe- -refers to the ethnic cleansing of native Palestinian peoples all during the 1948 Arab-Israeli war. From December 1947 until November 1948 Zionist forces - namely the Irgun - Lehi - Haganah terrorist gangs - expelled approximately 750 000 indigenous Palestinians --almost two third of the population--from their homes. Hundreds of Palestinians were also murdered for refusing to leave their homes. The most notable massacre is the Deir Yassin Massacre in which an estimated 120 Palestinian civilians were brutally murdered by an Irgun-Lehi force. Other massacres include the ones at Sahila - 70-80 killed - Lod - 250 killed- and Abu Shusha - 70 killed -. About 40 other massacres were carried out by Zionist forces in just the summer of 1948. Not only did Zionist forces conduct massacres of Palestinian civilians - rape occured as well. According to Israeli historian Benny Morris - In Acre four soldiers raped a girl and murdered her and her father. In Jaffa soldiers of the Kiryati Brigade raped one girl and tried to rape several more. At Hunin which is in the Galilee two girls were raped and then murdered. There were one or two cases of rape at Tantura south of Haifa. There was one case of rape at Qula in the center of the country. At the village of Abu Shusha near Kibbutz Gezer - in the Ramle area - there were four female prisoners - one of whom was raped a number of times. And there were other cases. Usually more than one soldier was involved. Usually there were one or two Palestinian girls. In a large proportion of the cases the event ended with murder. Because neither the victims nor the rapists liked to report these events- we have to assume that the dozen cases of rape that were reported- which I found are not the whole story. They are just the tip of the iceberg.- during Al Nakba - Palestinians were murdered raped and ethnically cleansed from their villages. According to Israeli historian Ilan Pappe - In a matter of seven months 531 villages were destroyed and 11 urban neighborhoods emptied.- Palestinians were forced into were forced out of Palestine and into neighboring countries - i.e. Lebanon Syria and Jordan - where they lived in refugee camps. Many were also sent to camps in West Bank and Gaza Strip. Most Palestinian towns were demolished and taken by the newly established Israeli government to make room for new Jewish immigrants. Old Palestinian infrastructures as well as many ruins dating back from the Canaanites Romans Greeks Crusaders Arabs and Ottoman Turks were completely destroyed. This signified the end of historical Palestine and the birth of modern-day Israel. Al Nakba marked the beginning of the Palestinian refugee crisis. Al Nakba destroyed a thriving and diverse Palestinian society and scattered them into diaspora. According to the UNRWA - the number of registered Palestinian refugees today is approximately 4.5 million. These refugees are dispersed throughout the world - many of which are still living in poverty-stricken refugee camps. Today the situation keeps worsening and thousands die from malnutrition - contaminated water - or scarce medical supply. Israel has since refused to allow Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and has refused to pay them compensation as required by UN Resolution 194 which was passed on December 11 1948. Historically the Israeli government Israeli schools and Israeli historians have denied that Al Nakba has occured. However The New Historians - a loosely-defined group of Israeli historians - have recently published information recognizing the Al Nakba tragedy and controversial views of matters concerning Israel - particularly events concerning its birth in 1948. Much of their material comes from recently declassified Israeli government papers. Leading scholars in this school include Benny Morris - Ilan Pappe - Avi Shlaim - and Tom Segev. Many of their conclusions have been attacked by other scholars and Israeli historians - who continue deny Al Nakba even occured.

Israeli forces have stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the occupied East Jerusalem Al-Quds and cordoned off its premises where dozens of Palestinian protesters had gathered. Eyewitnesses said that Israeli policemen had encircled the Al-Aqsa Mosque since the early morning hours and clashes erupted in the holy complex after the Israeli forces raided the area to push out the Palestinians. The protesters responded to the attack by throwing stones. Several people were injured and dozens more detained in the unrest.

Egypt's grand mufti Shaikh Ali Juma'a's visit to Al-Quds (Jerusalem) last April, was criticized by some Muslim and Arab figures. He did the religious visit to Al-Aqsa mosque along with a Jordanian royal family member. They also visited Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Greek Orthodox patriarchate, both located in the Old City which has been under Israel military occupation since 1967. Jordanians say the visit was in accordance to the Prophet Mohaamad's command to visit only three mosques on pilgrimage: Al-Aqsa mosque, the Harem mosque in Mecca and the Prophet's mosque in Madina. Mahmoud Abbas also has called on Muslims to visit Al-Aqsa mosque and revitalize it by filling it with worshipers and pilgrims.

The Palestinian cause is an indisputable aspiration shared by almost every Muslim in the world, regardless of their national, lingual and sectarian diversities. Their wish to liberate Palestine and al-Quds from the Zionists goes beyond all their differences. This year's al-Quds day, in the aftermath of revolutions and political turbulences in the Muslim and Arab world, and in the prospect of sectarian conflicts and civil wars ignited by the western powers, is a unique opportunity to forget all differences, to use the spiritual and liberating experience of Ramadan and to come together as brothers and sisters. Muslims traditionally tend to ignore the material life and worldly pleasures and to restrain themselves from any dispute during the month of Ramadan. This week's Islam and Life asks: How important is the international Al-Quds day for Muslim unity?

Muslims particularly Shia community in Indian-controlled Kashmir marked Eid al-Ghadeer by sending the message of peace across the Muslim world. Congregational ceremonies took place in different parts of the region as a reminder to awaken the conscience of all sects of Muslims to live in harmony and brotherhood. Eid al-Ghadeer marks the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad\'s sermon in which he appointed Imam Ali as his immediate successor. The occasion is marked on the 18th of Dhu al-Hijjah in the Islamic calendar. Islamic Scholars believe at a time when anti-Muslim elements are creating rifts amongst Muslims, occasions like Eid al-Ghadeer are a reminder to the Muslims to stick to the path taught by the Prophet. Here in Indian-controlled Kashmir Eid al-Ghadeeer is marked with reassertion to stay committed to Prophet Muhammad\'s teachings and belief.

Al-Ghadir Day has been commemorated in the Yemeni capital by Shia community, who believe that on this day Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) appointed his cousin and son-in-law Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (AS) as the leader of Muslims more than fourteen centuries ago in the prophet\'s farewell speech. Prominent members of the Houthi community who spoke at the podium, said, that Al-Ghadir day is one of the most important events to occur in Islamic history- in which Ali ibn Abi Taleb (AS) was dignified and givev elevated status by God, the Almighty. The Houthi religious leader Abdul-Malik al Houthi also addressed the gathering via video conferencing from the north province of Sa\'ada. In his 40 minute speech, the Houthi leader highlighted the pressing issues facing the Muslim world. He said he believes the reason for chaos across the Islamic world- is their leaders who often seek protection and assistance from those he referred to as enemies of Islam. Houthis in Yemen say they look to commemorate Al-Ghadir Day every year by calling on all Muslim nations to relinquish dependency on the West. The Day of Al-Ghadir is significant in the Islamic history which is commemorated every year by Shia Muslims in Yemen. This is an auspicious day which many believe brought about the completion of the holy religion of Islam more than fourteen centuries ago.

Bahrain\'s police have summoned, Sheikh Ali Salman, the head of Bahrain\'s main opposition group al-Wefaq for questioning. Sources inside the kingdom\'s interior ministry have revealed the summons without providing any specific reason for that. Al-Wefaq has also confirmed the news, describing it part of the regime\'s blackmailing and revenge tactics against anti-government protesters. Bahraini authorities shut and dismantled an exhibition on anti-government demonstrations on Wednesday. They said the exhibition--set up by al-Wefaq--violates the law. Back in September, al-Wefaq\'s deputy leader Khalil al-Marzouq was also arrested on charge of inciting protests against the Al Khalifa ruling family. Although he was released in late October, he will stand trial in December.

Brief segment of the sermon delivered recently by prominent religious scholar Ayatollah Sheikh Hussein Al-Radhi and that resulted in his arrest by the Saudi authorities. The sermon was delivered in one of the mosques in the ‎Ahsaa region in Eastern Saudi Arabia. Sheikh Al-Radhi called on the Saudi government to let Hezbollah and the other countries of the region be, and to focus instead on national reform. Shortly after this sermon was delivered, Sheikh AlRadhi was arrested in the town of Al-Rumailah. Sheikh AlRadhi is known for his criticism of the Saudi role in destabilizing the region. He often denounced the Saudi regime’s crimes in ‎Yemen, and he demanded that Saudi troops be withdrawn from ‎Bahrain. Sheikh AlRadhi was also one of the few scholars who dared to condemn the horrendous crime of executing Sheikh Nimr AlNimr along with several other activists earlier this year. #FREESHEIKHRADHI

It is the largest mosque in the world by area. Also contained within the complex are the Goharshad Mosque, a museum, a library, four seminaries,[1] a cemetery, the Razavi University of Islamic Sciences, a dining hall for pilgrims, vast prayer halls, and other buildings. The complex is one of the tourism centers in Iran[2][3] and has been described as \"the heart of the Shia Iran\"[4] with 25 million Iranian and non-Iranian Shias visiting the shrine each year, according to a 2007 estimate.[5] The complex is managed by Astan Quds Razavi Foundation currently headed by a prominent Iranian cleric, Ahmad Marvi. The shrine itself covers an area of 267,079m2 while the seven courtyards which surround it cover an area of 331,578m2 - totaling 598,657 m2 (6,443,890 sq ft).[6] Every year the ceremony of Dust Clearing is celebrated in the Imam Raza shrine.

🇵🇸 Like every year, the AL-QUDS DAY in QOM, Iran was simply outstanding and energizing. 🇮🇷 🗣 Countless people poured out on the Shuhada Ave. that connects the Haram of Sayyida Ma\'sumah (A) and the Musallah Al-Quds. For as far as one could see, it was an ocean of justice-seeking, insightful, believing men, women, youth, and children expressing their solidarity with the oppressed nation of Palestine 🇵🇸. Many elderly were witnessed on wheelchairs and even crutches. 👨‍🦽👨‍🦯 🩼 Subhan-Allah. 🚶‍♂️This was the first-ever year where the English speaking International Students of Qom (SoQ) came together to form a rally of their own and marched towards and joined the Main Rally. A big Al-Quds Day Banner and placards in English were designed, printed, and prepared by our volunteers, especially for the Al-Quds Day Rally. The participants carried the banner and placards throughout the rally and chanted slogans in English. ✊ 🇮🇷 The local Iranian population welcomed this initiative a great deal and appreciated the strong presence of non-Iranians in the rally. Countless people expressed their gratitude towards the international students\' participation in this rally. Some of the comments we received: ✨ \"The entire world should stand against Zionism. And this organized presence of the English speaking international students is simply amazing.\" ✨ \"Due to the international media blackout against us, we don\'t get coverage. Your presence shows us that our voice is reaching outside of Iran.\" ✨ \"You guys show us that we are not alone in this battle against the oppressors.\" ✨ \"The Al-Quds Day is not specific to Iranians. You guys proved it!\" ✨ \"You may be a small group, but you give us hope that the message of Wilayah is being received by you as well.\" ✨ \"Your presence shows that the message of the Islamic Revolution is reaching far and wide.\" ✨ \"Your organized rally is a proof that our resistance against the arrogant powers is successful and victorious.\" Many such comments were given to us by the local Iranian crowd. Alhamdo-lillah. We would like to thank each and every one of you who participated in this rally with SoQ volunteer families. We were joined by a diverse crowd of English speaking students and scholars along with their families from Nigeria, Philippines, Canada, US, UK, Dubai, Tanzania, Qatar, New Zealand, Pakistan, India and English-speaking Iranians. Former Cuban president Fidel Castro says al-Qaeda terrorists have been engineered in order to advance the Bush administration's agenda. In an essay published on Sunday, Castro said the terrorist group "was born from the empire's own entrails", using the term "empire" to refer to the United States. After the Sept. 11 attacks, the Bush administration vowed to capture al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who has reportedly taken responsibility for the deadly attacks on US soils. "[Al-Qaeda] is a typical example of an enemy that the hegemonic power dangles in a place of its choosing where it needs to justify its actions, as it has done throughout its history, fabricating enemies and attacks destined to strengthen its plans of domination," the former Cuban leader argued. According to Castro, the American public has been mislead by the US government about the real extent of the terrorist attacks in 2001. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has also suggested that Washington could have been somehow involved in the planning of the attacks. In the aftermath of the attacks, the White House launched the 'War on Terror' in a bid to disband al-Qaeda. While many civilians have been killed since the 2001 invasions of Afghanistan, followed by the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the US has failed to achieve its objectives in the region. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) program called "Operation Cyclone" is reportedly responsible for the creation of the terrorist group, when the CIA funded native Afghan militants in the conflict with the Soviet Union. The al-Qaeda leader is reportedly planning a new terror attack against the US as President-elect Barack Obama takes office from the incumbent president, George W. Bush. Earlier this month, a source close to the group claimed that Bin Laden is supervising preparations for another attack which will be far greater than those of 9/11.
