A panel resumes voting on the final draft of a new constitution for Egypt. The current panel includes representatives from civil society, political parties, the army, police, and the Coptic church. The new constitution is expected to spark controversy, as it will strengthen the army\'s hand. It will also forbid the formation of parties based on religious grounds. Egypt\'s interim authorities suspended the previous constitution written during Mohamed Morsi\'s presidency after his removal on July 3.

Egypt\'s 50-member committee tasked with writing the country\'s new constitution finishes voting on the amended national charter. Egypt\'s former foreign minister Amr Mussa-- who heads the constitution panel-- says the draft will be given to interim president Adly Mansour on Tuesday. The approval comes despite nationwide protests by supporters of ousted president Mohamed Morsi. Among many others, the panel has approved a controversial article that allows civilians to be tried in military courts. The new draft also bans the formation of parties based on religious grounds. It also specifies that the defense minister must be appointed in agreement with the military. Based on the new charter, procedures for the first election, either presidential or parliamentary, must begin between 30 to 90 days after the adoption of the constitution. Egypt\'s interim authorities suspended the previous constitution written during Morsi after his removal from power on July 3.

Destourian Front. It\'s the name of a new political front in Tunisia, which was formed earlier this year mainly by politicians of ousted ruler Zine El Abidine Ben Ali. Many government officials, businessmen and lawyers have joined the new coalition. It\'s now seeking to take part in next year\'s elections, with some members being confident that it will win the vote.

The Public Committee Against Torture says the Palestinian minors have routinely been held in outdoor cages for hours after their arrest. The organization says the children had to endure freezing temperatures outside transit facilities. It says this is a long-running practice meant to terrify the detained children. The N-G-O adds that it\'s just one example of the torture and ill-treatment of Palestinian children by Israeli forces. The Palestinian Prisoners Society has also said in a new report that 2-hundred Palestinian children are among five thousand inmates locked up in Israeli jails.

After a week of bloody clashes in southern Yemen, negotiations have resumed in Sana\'a at the national dialogue conference, where the country\'s political factions have been meeting for over the past 8 months to find solutions for the pressing issues. One of the main issues is the southern case which remains unresolved. A new proposal was put forward last week which insists on the creation of a federal system. Southern representatives in the NDC however say justice must first be served for the years of repression sustained in the south under the previous regime.

Kabul says it\'s found insufficient evidence to continue their detention. But Washington is angry about this, saying the prisoners pose a serious security threat. The row comes at a time when relations between the two sides are at a new low. Ties have grown strained particularly over President Hamid Karzai\'s refusal to sign a security deal to keep U-S troops in Afghanistan after 20-14.

Iran pres. slams US plan to impose new sanctions

British Prime Minister David Cameron is the first foreign head of government to visit Pakistan after historic democratic transition of power in May this year. Cameron met Pakistan\'s new Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in capital Islamabad. The two discussed measures to enhance bilateral relations including trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Britain. But their real focus was on current situation in Afghanistan. At a joint news conference, the British premier, who flew from Kabul, backed a political solution to Afghan war after his top general said the West missed a chance to strike a peace deal with Taliban militants 10 years ago. Egypt is tightening security measures along its borders with the Gaza Strip following massive unrest in the country. The new security measures are affecting the daily lives of many Gazans in the coastal enclave. Gaza has been suffering for several years from an Israeli blockade which has caused a lot of difficulty for the people living there. But now the new situation on the Egyptian border is making the economic situation in the coastal enclave much more difficult than before. Due to the tight Israeli blockade, Gaza depends on the tunnels to obtain essential supplies and cheaper fuel. Estimates show 40 percent of the coastal enclave\'s needs come via underground tunnels. Figures released by the Committee of French Car Makers show that in the past 6 months, the number of new cars sold in the country has dropped by 11 percent compared to last year\'s figures. French brands dominate the country\'s roads. And they are the biggest victims too. Peugeot Citroen has lost 9,5 percent of the market figures and Renault has lost 4 percent in just one month : a clear sign that the French now see cars as less of a necessity. The forecasts for the next six months show the car industry will continue to go suffer in the coming months. New figures now show the French car industry is now in deep trouble. Supporters of the Tunisian opposition coalition of the Popular Front have demonstrated in Tunis against the adoption of the new constitution. Meanwhile, the general session that was dedicated to the discussion of the bill was suspended because of many disagreements between lawmakers.
