Shadid relates his experiences covering the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hizbollah and uncovers some popular myths about the conduct of the Lebanese resistance during the war. During the interview he also discusses the present political impasse in Lebanon and provides an overview of the historical disenfranchisement of Shias in Lebanon their alienation from politics and economic deprivation and the need to promote a process by which the various groups in Lebanon are accorded their natural rights
