What does Allah ask the Messenger of Allah (S) - as related in a Hadith al-Qudsi - when the Messenger of Allah (S) went on the the Me\\\\\\\'raj, the Ascension?
What is the worldly life?
And what does the holy Qur\\\\\\\'an say about the worldly life?
What does Allah want us to use this worldly life for?
What are the steps when trying to make the Hereafter more important and valuable in our eyes?
Finally, what is the real and true life that we must all strive towards?
The late Ayatollah Misbah-Yazdi (R) provides us with a short, but profound lesson on the basics of loving Allah.

==============================
Human beings don’t seek to achieve anything unless they have an inner knowledge of it. People don’t start with learning and experiencing. People start every action and their life with a kind of restlessness. What does being restless mean? They understand something is within themselves and they look for it. There is some obscure asset, but we don’t know exactly what it is and we don’t know why we’re restless. So we try to find it. It’s the same when people are choosing a goal. They constantly think, “What goal is better for me?” An inner knowledge helps them in choosing their goal. When you reach this goal, you say, “You are what eases my restless heart.”
More than trying to choose our goal, we must try to find our goal within ourselves. We ourselves must discover what our goal is, not what our goal should be. We have an inner knowledge within us for choosing our goal. God hasn’t created us without a goal. So choosing a goal is not in our hands. Our goal in life has been chosen for us from before. “O human beings, surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.” [Qur’an 84:6] You will eventually meet God, but you will suffer on this path. This won’t be easy. It’s complicated and difficult. [God says,] “I’ve created you in this way. So go wherever you want.”
This is the only suitable goal for a person. Not being suitable doesn’t mean being valueless. It means it’s impossible. [So we’re not saying,] “Try not to choose any other goals!” No, you aren’t able to choose another goal. Other things can’t be your goal. They won’t set you on fire. This is our nature. “The nature made by God in which He has made men.” [Qur’an 30:30] We have been created in a way that this is what we want.
How did the Commander of the Faithful, Ali (as), choose his goal? One is surprised at this. What was the Imam’s feeling about his goal - getting close to God? Imam Husayn (as) said, “Whenever I saw my father, the Commander of the Faithful (as), he was crying.” O Imam, what is this goal doing to you? We know in general that this goal is probably God and getting close to Him. We don’t have Imam Ali’s (as) wisdom. We can’t imagine, “O Imam, you constantly cried for this? You cried for it every night. What had this goal done to you?! Tell me a little so that it may affect me some too. Why am I so unfeeling?!”
In the story narrated by Nauf, he said the same thing. He saw Imam Ali (as) was restless as he was moving away. He asked the Imam, “Where are you going?” See what Imam said. “I’m going toward my longings.” O Imam, may I be sacrificed for you. What are your longings? Nauf asked the Imam, “What are your longings?” He knew the answer in general but wanted to know more.
Do you know how the Imam responded? What innocence! What glory! He said, “The One Who should know my longings, knows.” He didn’t answer. He wanted to talk to God Himself. Imam, so you have a longing, but you can rest now. God knows you. You love Him. And He loves you. So why do you want to go and cry?! You’re friends with God! One cannot understand this. The fact that we can’t understand Imam Ali (as) shows that we haven’t yet found this goal and it hasn’t set us on fire yet.
We should be calm, like a still water in which the bottom of the pond can be seen. O goal, pull us to you and captivate us. Introduce yourself to me.
So choosing a goal is not in our hands. Our goal in life has been chosen for us from before. “O human beings, surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him.” [Qur’an 84:6] You will eventually meet God. We have been created in a way that this is what we want. [So we’re not saying,] “Try not to choose any other goals!” No, you aren’t able to choose another goal.
Other things can’t be your goal. They won’t set you on fire.

The 20th Juz consists of Surat an-Naml (last 37 verses, The Ant), Surat al-Qasas (88 verses, The Stories) and Surat al-Ankabut (first 45 verses The Spider). The discussion in these suras explore the barriers/veils that prevent one from allowing the Quranic guidance to permeate their hearts. God clearly states that only those who believe in God’s signs, are open-hearted and have submitted, even partially, to the truth will be able to perceive the guidance offered by the Quran. Those who insist on rejecting the truth, and are arrogant, will be like the ‘deaf or dead who can’t hear’ because they lack intellectual humility and intentionally don’t want to listen to the message of God. Suratul Qasas relates the story of Prophet Musa, and includes the story of Qarun, who despite his knowledge and wealth, lacked humility, believing he ‘deserved’ God’s blessings. Pharoah and Haman are also mentioned in the same vein, and their arrogance led them to punishment and destruction. The reference to the spider’s web, giving Sura Ankabut its name, describes how such people’s base is like the frailest of homes, that of a spider, while the hold of God is the strongest. The Juz ends with God’s promise that those who strive in God’s way, will attain guidance.

What is the goal of the global arrogant superpowers in trying to make hollow the sources of the Islamic Republic\\\'s power and authority?
What is the \\\"Greater Jihad\\\" which is mentioned in the holy Qur\\\'an in Chapter al-Furqan, verse number 52?
Finally, what role does refusing to obey the devils from among the men and the jinn have to do with all this?
Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei provides us with a short interpretation of the following verse of the Holy Quran.
Chapter 25 (al-Furqan), Verse 52:
“Thus, do not obey the disbelievers/deniers, and strive against them with it, a great striving.”

What was the purpose and goal of prophets? What did they want to achieve? Did they have a plan for human society? Did they strive to establish a divine civilization? Is war bad under all circumstances? What does Quran say?
Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei provides us with a short interpretation of the following verse of the Holy Quran.
Chapter 4 (al-Nisa), Verse 76:
“Those who have faith
fight in the way of Allah, while those who disbelieve fight in the way of Taghut (rebels fighting God). So, fight the friends (associates/supporters) of Satan. Surely, Satan’s strategy (plot) is weak.”

This supplication is beautiful in its eloquence as it holds many spiritual teachings, such as finding the balance between hope and fear, death, and gratitude. For example, we know that as humans we are greatly flawed and bound to sin, in which we may fear that we are not worthy of mercy and forgiveness of Allah swt. This path towards wrongdoings can lead one to hopelessness, however, the Dua teaches us that we must
remember Allah swt is All Forgiving and All Merciful, and by these virtues of Allah swt that we should remain hopeful, and to not be fearful of Allah swt, but rather to be cautious and scared of our own actions.
The Dua of Abu Hamza also contains supplications for our needs and wants for this world, as well as the hereafter. It is said that if the whole of this supplication is read then the
supplications of our needs have been sufficiently covered, as this Dua mentions a variety of wishes that one may ask for. This
includes the wellbeing of our families, the whole of society, and ourselves. As this Dua is mainly recited in the month of
Ramadan, there is also the request to be amongst those who
receive the chance to perform Hajj, as it is narrated that on
Laylatul Qadr, the names of those who will be given such a chance are written. With the many needs that this Dua
addresses, Imam Sajjad (as) has also included in it the
bounties of Allah, so that we may practice gratitude and be grateful for that which Allah has blessed us with. Lastly as all of us must face death at one point or another, in this supplication, the Imam (as) prepares us for what will come after death, and reminds us to strive for the Hereafter.

Abū Ḥamza al-Thumali was a prominent student of of Imam Ali Zainul Abidīn (as) , as well as a companion of Imam Jafar as Sadiq (as) . Al-Thumālī narrated this supplication from Imam Sajjad (as), and is cited by various scholars, such as Shaykh Tusi in Misbah al-Mutahajjid, Sayyid ibn Tawus in Iqbal al-A’mal, Ibrahim ibn Ali al-Kaf’ami in Al-Balad al-Amin, and Allama Majlisi in Bihar Al-Anwar. It is known to be one of the longest Dua’s and is meant to be read in the Month of Ramadan before sunrise.

Allah wants you to reach heights which you could not yet imagine; to become like a towering tree which basks in the glory of the sunlight. Yet, you remain in a flowerpot stuck in a greenhouse due to limitations you have limited yourself with. How strange that we do not recognise our full potential! And how strange that we do not strive to attain it!

What are you searching for in this world? Some of the pertinent and beautiful reminders in this clip will wake us up if we contemplate a little bit on what is being said. Allah has not created this world as a permanent abode- if our life objectives are to seek comfort and happiness, then perhaps we have been walking in the wrong direction. By reflecting on the lifestyle of the great scholars of the modern world, such as Imam Khomeini, Imam Khamenei and others, we will see that the primary objectives of their lives were not to seek out comfort, but to strive against their nafs (selves).

Planning VS Desiring | Agha Alireza Panahian
Many a times, we become a prey of this confusing phenomenon. Are we supposed to plan or leave everything to Allah? Is it OK to desire for something and then strive to acquire it? How can we then differentiate what love-of-the-world is? Where does the line draw. What\\\'s the difference between planning versus desiring? This short clip by Agha Panahian will answer many such confusions.

The Trials of Marriage | BISKIT | English
What does having a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles have to do with marriage in Islam? Well, the short answer is nothing. Whether one has a pet cat or not...
What does having a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles have to do with marriage in Islam? Well, the short answer is nothing. Whether one has a pet cat or not should not hinder one from the divine prospect of marriage. Similarly, there are many things which Muslims take into account before deciding to marry or when selecting a spouse - the person’s skin colour, how wealthy they are, whether or not they are Sayyid… but are such things what Islam tells us to consider before marrying?
A quick disclaimer; the purpose of this episode is not to say that men should not work hard and strive to earn a halal living while saying, “I’m pious, so let me marry!”. No. It is the duty of Muslim men everywhere to work. Similarly, it is an important duty for us to study and educate ourselves.
The underlying message in this BISKIT is that FAITH ought to be given priority over all other things before we marry. Neither wealth, nor education, nor beauty, nor lineage, nor nationality are even remotely as important as faith. As Muslims we must remember that in front of faith, all the other things are as irrelevant as a pet cat named Mr. Tibbles!

Al-Quds day is a global event that takes place on the last Friday of the Month of Ramadhan. Protests will be held, banners will be raised, voices will be heard by the will of Allah.
In Islam, if any land of our fellow Muslims is occupied, do we have any duty regarding that? If one of us is harmed, all of us are being harmed. And as Imam Khamenei has emphasized, the issue of Palestine is of utmost importance in the contemporary world. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. And if we are to truly be the supporters of Imam Mahdi (A), then we must strive to end injustice in order to help him bring about a world of peace, equity, tolerance and respect. Al Quds Day is the day to stand for this noble cause.
This year, the Al-Quds day rally must be bigger, more impactful and more urgent than ever before. May Allah hasten the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A).

Congratulations to all the believers on the birthday of Imam Mahdi (A) and also the 3rd anniversary of Islamic Pulse. Alhamdolillah.
It’s only been 3 years since Islamic Pulse was launched and, by the grace of Allah, we have become a recognized media influence in the Muslim Ummah. Alhamdolillah.
We thank ALLAH, respected scholars who provide guidance time to time, our generous donors, Islamic Pulse board of directors, graphics designers, presenters, editors, researchers, script writers, reviewers, and our dear viewers for being with us in this journey.
We consider no other group more significant than the youth, who are potentially the bright hope for a better future. But how do we reach out to young people? What is it that we can do to gain their interest?
In order to hasten the reappearance of Imam Mahdi (A), people need to be ready. Our mission is to strive to empower the masses with knowledge, direction and faith. We believe that through determination, perseverance and ideological maturity, we can rage against the darkness of Western Media and spread the light of the Holy Prophet (S) and the Ahlulbayt (A) far and wide.
As Ayatollah Khamenei says, \\\"In our opinion, it is possible to defeat the Western Zionist Media Empire. It is possible to do this. if we all show willpower, we can accomplish this!”
A revolution is on the horizon. But you need to be on board!

Why Some Lose Faith | Shaykh Usama Abdulghani | English

Taqleed means to follow. While in Fiqh (jurisprudence), one may do Taqleed of a marja\\\' in order to understand the Islamic rulings on prayers and fasting etc.
People lose faith because they do \\\"taqleed\\\" in their beliefs. This is not allowed. One cannot believe in the oneness of God, in Prophethood or in the Day of Judgment simply because they follow someone else (their parents, or scholars). Rather, such beliefs must only be arrived at through personal contemplation and reflection. One may take help from the Islamic books and scholars, but at the end of the day one must strive to truly acquire faith in Islam through finding proofs, evidences and contemplation; not through Taqleed.

Does the leader of the Muslims always have to be a Ma’sum [infallible]? Ultimately, yes! How can one strive for perfection if ones’ ultimate leader is not a perfect servant of Allah? But how about in the time when the infallible Imam is in occultation? Shaykh Usama brilliantly presents the example of the Tawwabin- they ought to have followed Muslim Ibn Aqeel - a non-Ma’sum leader - but their failure to do so lead to the martyrdom of Imam Husayn [A]. The question for you now is: who is the Muslim Ibn Aqeel of today?

Ayatollah Khamenei made the remark in a message to the Hajj pilgrims.
The full text of the message is as follows:
In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Greetings to the holy Ka’aba, the base of monotheism, and pilgrimage place of the faithful. The place on which angels land, and greetings to Masjid al-Haram, Arafat, Mash’ar and Mina, and greetings to humble hearts, and tongues mentioning God, and eyes opened with insight, and thoughts which have set examples to others, and greetings to you blissful Hajj pilgrims, who have succeeded in answering positive to the divine call and are taking advantage of this bountiful occasion.
The first duty of Hajj pilgrims is to muse on this global, historical and eternal positive response to the divine call: “verily all thanks and blessings are yours as well as absolute rule, and there is no partner for you, and I accept your call.”
All eulogies and thanks, belong to Him, and all blessings come from Him, and all the rules and power belong to Him. This is the viewpoint that is given to a Hajj pilgrim at the first step of this rich and meaningful obligation, and continuation of these rituals takes place in coordination with it, and then, like a lasting training and an unforgettable lesson, it is put in front of him, and requires him to regulate his life plan on its basis. Learning this great lesson and acting upon It, is the same blessed spring which can impart vivacity, liveliness and dynamism to the lives of Muslims, and relieve them from the problems with which they are grappling – both at this time, and in all other times.
The idol of human proclivities, vanity and lust, the idol of seeking dominance over others and submission to dominance, the idol of the global arrogance, the idol of laziness and irresponsibility, and all idols that bring humiliation to the endeared human soul will be shattered with this Abrahamic outcry, when it comes from the bottom of one’s heart and turns into a life plan, and will substitute freedom and dignity and health for dependence and hardship and affliction.
Brethren and sisters who are performing the Hajj pilgrimage, from any nation and any country, think about this wise divine word, and through a painstaking approach to problems facing the Islamic world, especially in West Asia and North Africa, define for yourself, in view of your personal and environmental capacities and potentialities, a duty and responsibility and then strive towards fulfilling it.
Today, the mischievous policies of America in this region, which are the source of war, bloodshed, devastation, homelessness as well as poverty, and backwardness and ethnic and religious differences on the one hand, and crimes committed by the Zionist regime, which has taken its usurping behavior in the country of Palestine to the ultimate degree of ruthlessness and evilness, in addition to repeated violations of the sacred sanctuary of the al-Aqsa Mosque, and trampling on the lives and property of the oppressed Palestinians on the other hand, are the foremost problem for all of you Muslims. About which you must think and in the face of which you must know your Islamic obligation. Religious ulema, political, and cultural elites shoulder a much heavier responsibility, which is unfortunately ignored by them most of the time. The ulema, instead of fanning the flames of religious discord, and the politicians, instead of passivity in the face of the enemy, and the cultural elite, instead of being preoccupied with marginal issues, must try to know the great ailment of the Islamic world and accept their mission, which they are responsible to fulfill before God, and try to cope with it. The regretful incidents in the region, [including] in Iraq and the Levant and Yemen and Bahrain, and in the West Bank and Gaza, and in some other Asian and African countries, are major problems of the Islamic Ummah, in which the plotting hands of the global arrogance must be seen, and for which a remedy must be sought. Nations must demand this from their governments, and governments must remain loyal to their heavy responsibility.
Hajj and its glorious gatherings are the loftiest place for the rise and exchange of this historic obligation. The opportunity to denounce [infidels], which must be valued through participation of all Hajj pilgrims, from all places, is one of the most expressive political rituals in this overarching obligation.
This year, the bitter and devastating incident of Masjid al-Haram, brought bitterness to all Hajj pilgrims and their nations. It is true that those who passed away in this incident, who went to meet their God while saying prayers and going around Ka’aba and worshipping God, have achieved great bliss and are, God willing, resting in the sanctuary of divine safety, observance and mercy, and this could be a great source of consolation for their families. But this issue cannot reduce the heaviness of the responsibility of those people who are committed to providing security for the guests of the Beneficent God.
Acting upon this commitment and fulfilling this responsibility is our ultimate demand.
May Allah bless those doing good
