When was the idea to ban the Hijab first injected into Reza Shah – the former ruler of the oppressive Pahlavi regime?
And how was he desensitized to the notion of not wearing a Hijab?
Furthermore, what disastrous incident took place on the 17th of Dey 1314 (7th of January 1936)?
Who was Ali Asghar Hekmat and what role did he play in the removal of the Hijab?
And who were the real masterminds behind the Pahlavi puppet Reza Shah?
More importantly, what was the aim behind banning the Hijab?
And finally, did the courageous Muslim women submit to this or did they resist?
Imam Sayyid Ali Khamenei speaks about how the banning of the Hijab came about and the problems faced by the courageous women who were “Defending The Hijab During The Taghuti Rule.”

In Libya, Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has called on Libyans to resort to peaceful means to settle a standoff over their interim parliament.
Thousands of Libyans took to the streets of the capital Tripoli on Friday to protest GNC\'s mandate extension which expired on Friday. A large portion of Libya\'s population is critical of GNC for its inability to prevent the country from sliding into chaos. There are growing fears that rival armed groups would engage in clashes. GNC was elected in 20-12 after the ouster of former ruler Muammar Gaddafi.

Pakistan\'s interior minister says the government plans to put former military ruler Parviz Musharraf on trial for treason.
Musharraf would be the first military ruler tried for treason in a country that has experienced three military coups in its 66-year history. He could face the death penalty if convicted of treason for declaring a state of emergency while in power. Musharraf has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. Musharraf was forced to step down in 2008 after ruling for about a decade and left the country shortly afterwards. He returned to Pakistan in March to run in the national elections in May, but was disqualified. Musharraf had been held under house arrest for months and was freed earlier this month after he received bail in four other cases, including the investigation of the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

Saudi Arabia has sentenced a Shia activist to 13 years in jail and a 15-year travel ban.
Human Rights Watch says a judge convicted Adel al-Labbad in the Eastern Province on Thursday. Labbad faced a total of five charges, including disobedience to the ruler and disturbing public order. Media across the kingdom has not yet reported on the sentence. Meanwhile, the Saudi public prosecutor has demanded the death penalty for a 20-year-old man accused of participating in anti-regime protests. Saudi Arabia is one of the most repressive countries in the world where there\'s zero tolerance for dissent.
