British Prime Minister David Cameron is the first foreign head of government to visit Pakistan after historic democratic transition of power in May this year. Cameron met Pakistan\'s new Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in capital Islamabad. The two discussed measures to enhance bilateral relations including trade and economic ties between Pakistan and Britain. But their real focus was on current situation in Afghanistan. At a joint news conference, the British premier, who flew from Kabul, backed a political solution to Afghan war after his top general said the West missed a chance to strike a peace deal with Taliban militants 10 years ago. For his part, Pakistani premier emphasized the need for all-inclusive Afghan-owned and Afghan-led peace process.

Europe is shuddering under the threat of its worst storm in years. Hurricane-force winds lash mainland Europe, leaving five people dead or missing.
Travel and transport are disrupted, with thousands forced to flee their homes. So far, Britain seems to be bearing the brunt, with 15000 homes evacuated. The Thames Barrier, designed to protect London from flooding, will remain shut on Thursday night. Across Britain, more than 100-thousand homes are without power. Prime Minister David Cameron has held two emergency meetings to discuss the situation. Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden are on alert. Hundreds of flights have been cancelled across northern Europe while rail and ferry services are shut down.

[06 Aug 2012] Panetta raises threat of military attack on Iran Galloway - English
US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has raised the threat of a military attack on Iran regarding its nuclear energy program in an effort to reassure what they call Israel during a trip to Tel Aviv. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seems to dismiss the tough talk though, saying American statements of solidarity with Israel and hints at military attacks are not working. Iran however has denied the Western accusations that Tehran is seeking a military objective in its nuclear energy program. According to a Fatwa from the Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei Iran is prohibited to follow such an objective. Russian President Vladimir Putin was in London on Thursday to discuss the Syrian issue with David Cameron. So far, Russia and China have opposed any kind of UN resolution that could be seen as supporting Libyan-style Western military intervention. "Britain has retaliated in part by blocking a Russian arm shipment to Syria but the weaponry keeps getting through at least to those favored by the West," said George Galloway.

[14 June 2012] David Cameron & Leveson Inquiry - Comment - English
On Thursday, UK Prime Minister David Cameron appeared before the Leveson Inquiry. There was no point of hiding his close friendships with the News International family, so instead he tried to make it all out to be part of the job as it was revealed even in opposition he met with the Murdochs and Rebekah Brooks 44 times. News International paid for David Cameron to meet Murdoch in the Greek Island of Santorini in 2008. That year his friendship with Rebekah Brooks also flourished. They were neighbors and Brook's millionaire husband went to the same elite school as Cameron.
Cameron denied ever making any overt or covert deals with News International. He was questioned over why he hired news international editor Andy Coulson as his media chief. Meanwhile three more people, including a sun journalist and police officer were arrested over the scandal. You could say David Cameron sailed through his day at the Leveson inquiry. But then he wasn't really given a rough ride. And what could have easily been a storm seems to have just passed him by. But he did admit his close friendships with the Murdoch's and brooks, at the same time admitting such close relationships were wrong. So it seems even if he just survives, he is a very much a damaged prime minister.

The timing of the revelation that UK security agents monitored the communications of politicians \'friendly\' to Britain is sure to leave David Cameron facing awkward questions from his G8 counterparts as the two-day summit wraps. Guests from Russia, Italy, France, Canada, Germany, Japan and the US might have been having second thoughts about the security of their data after the Guardian reported the activities of delegates at the 2009 G20 event had been closely monitored.

[1] George Galloway Muslim Massacre Continues in Myanmar - 03 Aug 2012 - English
According to a group of UK-based NGOs, from June 10 to 28, 650 Rohingya Muslims were killed, 1,200 went missing, and more than 80,000 others were displaced as a result of rioting, arson, rape, and a cycle of revenge attacks in the western state. Over the past two years, waves of ethnic Muslims have attempted to flee by boats in the face of systematic oppression by the Myanmar government. The government of Myanmar refuses to recognize the Rohingyas, who it claims are not native and classifies them as illegal migrants, although they have lived in Myanmar for generations.

Plans to legalize gay marriage in England and Wales is being debated in the UK Parliament. It is currently going through its two-day report stage and third reading. Amendments to the bill are also being proposed.
MPs in the House of Commons will vote on a number of amendments to the gay marriage bill, including an amendment put forward by one Conservative MP who is opposed to gay marriage. The Tory MP wants civil partnerships to be extended to opposite-sex couples. But this amendment could delay the bill, increase costs and could force the government to drop the bill altogether.

As both sides try and thrash out an agreement on the future of Syria, in the UK, the country\'s Foreign Secretary has announced plans to host refugees from the conflict area. Whilst William Hague has yet to set out how many refugees or the qualifying criteria, critics argue the UK\'s role in the issue should not be understated.
Chris Bambery has recently returned from a visit to a refugee camp in Lebanon. UK Prime Minister David Cameron has previously stated that Britain has already taken in around 1000 Syrians fleeing the crisis in the region.

Almost 12 years on since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan, Britain\'s top military man here --- Nick Carte believes that the problem of Afghanistan is largely political. And the West could have solved this, if they had talked with the Taliban a decade ago. British Prime Minister David Cameron, however, thinks otherwise. He says they need to move forward with both military and political approaches. He urged President Karzai to resume negotiations with Americans about a security deal between Kabul and Washington. Cameron also demanded a big role for his own government in the ongoing talks with the Taliban militants.
